Let's wait and see then... although the bit about workers "taking a look at the other signs around the building" sounded rather ominous! Shocked

Well don't worry - there will be ITV signs all over the place to replace them before the years out! Laughing

Although the right thing to do is to obvioulsy replace the sign - I would be surprised if ITV did. Think of it this way, If your business had a main brand ( ITV) and had a sort of now non exsistent brand ( Granada) would you want to replace that sign if you had the chance to get red of it?

Very true. It's possible though they were surprised by the reaction to it being taken down though (which has in part been fuelled by Granada Reports themselves by filming it coming down and putting out a report about it!). And unless they get scrubbing you've got a "GRANADA TV" stained roof-top, which looks worse than what was there before (not that BBC North West have ever been particularly bothered about that though...)

Well really if they do decide to replace the sign - I think it will ony be fuelled by the reaction/publicity I.e by Granada Reports and local newsapers etc.

At most there'll put it back up with a nice big ITV sign stuck in front! Laughing

TBH I've never liked the huge space between 'Granada' and 'TV' but that's 50s signage for you.

God I really hope not.

Finger's crossed they manage to repair or restore the originals.

I was just thinking then if they "do" put it back up what are the chances of it getting a [itv] GRANADA TV or even just drop the "TV"part, I like that Granada Reports has said something about it though.

Good to see that it has been reported, looking on here, Facebook and DS the general view is that pretty much everyone doesn't agree with the decision to remove the signs for various reasons. I guess with it being in the view of every Granada News bulletin it's removal couldn't have gone entirely unnoticed, or as some folk say it's something you see when you're on your way into Manchester.

They must have been surprised anyone cared. I guess all they can do now is in a few weeks or months if they care to remember say it was beyond repair.

The whole thing could be recreated for less than 5 grand. You can't buy "goodwill" from your audience for that kind of money - they'd be fools not to get the sign up one way or another.

Which begs the question - are ITVplc fools?

Granada is one of the companies who ruined the ITV network along with Carlton. They are the McDonald's of television, so in essence, Granada had the sign taken down, not ITV because ITV is Granada!

All of that being true, their audience still imbue the signage with some greater value than an assemblage of perspex and fluorescent tubes.

lol@ Mcdonalds of television though!

Well if that sign doesn't get replaced I think someone should start a friends of the Granada sign campaign group.

It worked for the Hollywood sign.
