I doubt they will put an ITV logo up as they would have done that at the same time as all the other logos were put up on all ITV's other buildings a few years ago.

They might still do it, they applied for permission to put ITV logos on the top of the tower at the London Studios earlier this year.

What's more sad is the state of the building in other areas...the former reception area is a dusty relic full of pics of dramas and shows from about 10 years ago (including Live Talk!). To get in now you go via the car park round the back. And I expect the main office block must be deserted, given the amount of production that goes on there now compared to decades past.

Can you still read Granada TV in the dirt of the building, like you can still see the old BBC North West 'NW' device on the front of the BBC Manchester building?

Yeah looking at the Granada facebook you can still see the bit where the logo was, and the other GRANADA TV logo on the side has been painted white ??????? and over grown by a bush and under it a blue Itv logo.

Health & Safety my arse. Funny how ITV celebrated 50 years back in 2005 yet they are eradicating all evidence of their past Rolling Eyes

To play devil's advocate for a moment, how many other businesses still display a former name on the front of their building?

Anglia's studios in Norwich have still got a "Anglia Television" sign on the front, although given what's happened at Granada, I wonder how much longer that sign will be there for?

There's also various older bank buildings which have still got signs displaying the banks' previous names (e.g. Lloyds Bank, Midland Bank and National Westminster).

Waterstone's in Piccadilly has still got the "Simpson Piccadilly" sign on the front of the building.

ITV Central's onsite signage still bears Central Television/Carlton Communications logos, just the big ones say [itv] Central. The CCTV warning signs say "For more information regarding this system please contact: Duty Office - Central Television - Broad Street, Birmingham. B1 2JP"

Did think whilst watching Road to Coronation St, how long it would be before they pulled the sign down. Next I think they should pull off the lettering at BBC TV Centre, somebody could get hit on the head by a large 'B'.

The original 'BBC Television Centre' lettering was taken down in the mid 1990's. There's been 2 replacements since then. They won't last long anyway, once the BBC sell it off the sign will change again

Yes, but for some reason the application was withdrawn shortly after ...

The original 1960s signage:

was replaced with the 1986-1997 corporate BBC typeface around 1994, which there doesn't seem to be any imagery of except from this Live & Kicking title sequence:

which was replaced in November 1997 with the current typeface:

...and let's not forget that Live and Kicking changed their titles about 6 weeks before they got around to changing the signage on the building itself, and they got it wrong, assuming that the letters would be in capitals stretched across the whole of the front of TC1 (naturally given that's what it looked like previously), when as seen above the "Television Centre" was in mixed case on the right hand side. I think they got this in place by the time of Children In Need night with it's associated shots of TV Centre. L&K kept the incorrect guess however until April 1999. And it's worth pointing out that L&K never re-edited the second shot of the titles, in which the original signage could still be seen faintly.

I'm Alan Patridge series 1 is also notable as the signage changed during the course of the filming of the series.

Does the other red 'Granada TV' sign still survive by the vehicle access?

Also how about the 'Granada Television' lettering over the old reception entrance?

The reception entrance has a couple of letters missing from it, but that side as said is pretty much disused now, I know there was a neon sign on the reception side at the top of the building, but it's been dwarfed by a new-ish office block built right next to it, so no can see.

To be fair if you have been inside Quay Street studios, for me it felt like walking round my old High school, there was loads of home made tributes on the walls of Granada programmes, personalities and logos, in the building ITV just put ITV where they feel like it.

I remember when that building had the LWT letters on the top in the early 90's, however these got taken down when the LWT Studios became the London Studios. Perhaps the other companies that used the facilities objected to them becoming the ITV studios?

Although it's not entirely a former name - still used in local programmes such as Granada Reports.
