The 3.20pm bulletin today had virtually no lights working properly at the start of the bulletin. Huw Edwards was almost in the dark! By just over half way through the bulletin they had come back on!

And he's just said at the end, 'Hopefully we'll get the lights working for the Six O'Clock News'. The end of the bulletin showed the studio still looking really dark!

It's the sort of thing people talk about on this forum...

And I don't like ITN News at all - BBC is in my opinion the best (except for rolling news)! But, we are all allowed our own opinions!

No dissing anyones opinion but I just didn't think ths thing had interest by people unlike new idents which do:D

Damn, when i noticed that the studio had no lights I pressed the record button on my remote only to find that mum had the tape to watch her soaps from, by the time I got a tape the bulliten had finished, sorry guys! I would have loved to do you a grab.

So I take it there isn't a switch that is preset with the lighting intensity/positions etc. and that it has to be done by a lighting engineer manually? Smile

It's a standard lighting plot which doesn't change, so in theory someone could just turn the lighting desk on & call up a plot, but...

Lighting/Vision are in their own little bunker & no-one bothered checking to see if anyone was in there until too late
