Hi,

I've heard that there is going to be a spin-off following the current
(final series) of Life On Mars. Apparently this will feature DCI Gene Hunt, but not Sam Tyler - and possibly be set in the 80s.

Does anyone have any more information on this?

Also, what do you think - should they do a spin-off, or just leave it be after the second series of Life On Mars?

Thanks, Don

It's going to be called Ashes to Ashes, after a David Bowie song.

Ashes to Ashes it's going to be called. The person who plays DS Skelton mentioned it in a newspaper interview for the Nottingham Evening Post . It's going to feature Gene Hunt in 1983 hunting down gangsters while coping with changes in the police force.

With that in mind, I wonder what will happen with Gene Hunt in the last ever episode of LOM next week, once "revelations" come out?

Thanks for the responses.

So, is Gene Hunt going to be driving a boxy mark 4 Cortina this time?!

Interesting twist, perhaps Gene is in the coma and wakes up in 1983?

Who knows, not long now until the final episode of LOM

I wonder if the WPC is Sam's sister in reality.

I reckon the main characters are also in Sam's 2007 life somewhere, but obviously not his work colleagues

Someone had to say it! Laughing

But it would have to be more than just a bit of luck; as a poster already mentioned this series as being set in 83 - and to my knowledge the COW was later in 85.

If my memory serves me correctly, they were using the green-on-blue mirror globe with double line lettering in 1983.
