Very computer gen! The mirror is totally wrong and it's running too slow. Excellent idea though to show it!

Who is that bloke in the middle left? He looks like something out of "Look Around You"!

Was he presenting Points of View back then? Indeed if Wikipedia and Infax are to believed, it ended in 71 (With Robert Robinson) and came back in 79.

(I'm probably looking far too much into this and it's probably a different programme!)

I certainly remember Took hosting Points Of View in the mid 70's early 80's I think. He was the best host of that show. He was also famous for writing comedy with the late great Marty Feldman.

I thought that the globe din't look right as well, purely because the bit behind the globe should have taken up the whole of the screen.

Here's how we saw the intro in Wales.

Far better than the London effort. London's voice had the completely the wrong inflexion for a 70s continuity announcer, and why had the audio quality been degraded ? Is there anybody at Red Bee who was even born in the 70s ?

I agree. Simply for shear realism, the Wales one was miles better than networks effort. To me the 'interference' on the London one just doesn't seem realistic, and the cont. announcers voice was completely wrong. But, still, nice to see a globe on BBC1 again I suppose.

Sorry but that thing is a complete mess! Did anyone at Red Bee look up footage of the real globe? For one thing, there was never a South Pole on any of the mirror globes (except BBC West).

There were always going to be cosmetic issues with converting a 4:3 mirror globe to 16:9 but Wales had the much better idea. Maybe they should adapt theirs for network or ask our very own mulder to submit one of his mirror globes?

Just be grateful they did something.
