Did anyone else have problems with their ITV2 on DTT watching the Champions League this evening? I experienced major artefacts and blocking. ITV News Channel has recently rearrived on my transmitter.

ITV1 has been particularly bad on my tv set. It seems to be worse than ever since the ITV News Channel has returned to DTT in Wales.

Of course, put together digital tv, low bandwidth and a football match and it always seems to be 'blocky' -this is just one of those things that we will have to live with on DTT/Freeview.

Even the BBC football matches have been abysmal lately!

What Welsh names! I know that's rich coming from me (Mr. half Welsh), but goodness gracious me.

A Welsh purist would also have to query the use of the "V" in the heading, standing for the English "versus".

Surely the totally correct version would be "Lerpwl yn erbyn Llansantffraid"?

Erm, no. The "V" symbol, meaning versus, is an international symbol. Lerpwl yn erbyn Llandsantffriad is actually a bad mutation of the langauge as there are two football teams involved. If for, example, Holyhead were playing Rhyl "Caergybi yn erbyn y Rhyl" would translate as "Holyhead played with Rhyl" so "Caergybi V y Rhyl" is correct.

If we are going on what Nick says above then BBC Cymru should be BBC Gymru, S4C Digidol (pron ess-ped-war-eck-dig-e-dol) should be Digidol a'r S4C.

I forget what they call this now , but I'm sure there's a grammatical term for it. Escapes me at the moment - too much wine in the garden.
Versus is of course Latin and is commonplace in it's usage "v" in competition terms.

Anyone who wishes to translate Total Network Solutions into yr hen iaith is welcome to it. Besides even when u rename a team it still represents a village or town or city.
