The BBC have persisted with Lenny Henry Shows for as long as I can remember and they are always IMO a let down. He's created some classic comedy characters though over the years.
I don't find him HUGELY funny, but he is entertaining. And after all the work he does for Comic Relief for free, if I were the controller i'd give him his own series!
Some of his sketches are quite funny, some are not - Definitely not the worst comedy I've seen for Friday nights, so I'll take a look at it, and if it's good I'll stick around.
Either Friday nights aren't what they used to be comedy-wise, or I've lost some of my sense of humour.... I have fond memories of 90's
Red Dwarf
and
Bottom
on BBC2.
He has said this is to be his last series of a sketch show.

It's a shame he didn't have this epiphany before he came up with Lenny Henry In Pieces. He used to be so funny right upto the second series of The Lenny Henry Show as Delbert Wilkins, then the wheels fell off. When he started hanging around with the Oxford/Cambridge crowd he just wasn't good anymore. His series have
NEVER
been ratings winners either apart from Three Of A Kind. I've never known a programme perform so poorly and get commissioned year after year!!
He's a lovely man but he just isn't funny anymore, it's a real shame they only made 6 of The Two Ronnies Sketchbook.
