I really wish BBC2 would show some classic Laurel and Hardy again. I used to love to watch them in the mornings. BBC2 stopped showing them around 2005 and haven't shown any films since.
I'd also love to see BBC2 show Abbott and Costello again as well. There used to be dedicated time slots for all these types of films back in the 90's and early 2000's early in the mornings. But nowadays CBBC dominates BBC2's morning schedules most days of the week, so by the time CBBC ends, it is to late in the day for them to show an old 1930's film I would have thought. I'm not sure if this is why these old comedy classics don't get shown anymore, but it's a possibility.
Speaking as a big fan of Laurel and Hardy, I really would love for BBC2 to shown them again and perhaps fit them in the schedule somewhere. Even better, why not show them on BBC4?

You have mist out the other classic from that time "The Phil Silvers Show" I do wonder why there don't broadcast the shows again, saying that it can't all be down to cost.
Yes The Phil Silvers Show is another example. BBC2 used to show this most days at one point. But again, this was when they had a big chunk of the morning schedule at their disposal. Now, after CBBC finishes at 11am or 12pm, the BBC have to think about who would be watching BBC2 at that time of the day, so they stick on a film or Animal Park instead. Maybe things will change after the full digital switchover when CBBC gets taken off BBC2 completely. Here's hoping the BBC bring back them old comedy gems for the morning schedules like they did years ago. Including and not forgetting a repeat run of Flash Gordon as well which is long overdue
Does anyone else remember those early Saturday morning starts on BBC2 when they would show an old comedy film. It was in the early 1990's as I was about 12 or 13 at the time. I used to rush downstairs for 7am and watch an old Laurel and Hardy film or Buster Keaton film. They would also show the odd Norman Wisdom film as well in this early morning slot. This was a regular slot in the Autumn and winter period when the Open University programming stopped until the early spring the following year. BBC1 would also occasionally show an old film early on Sunday morning, although this was rare.
I'd give anything for BBC2 to do this again.
The weird thing is CBBC used to finish at 9am and only stay on until 11am when it was the school holidays or half term. But nowadays BBC2 has CBBC and CBeebies on from 6am until 11am everyday no matter what.
I remember seeing Laurel and Hardy a few years ago I remember seeing part of the film "Swiss Miss" with a scene involving a piano on the bridge. Morning TV at the weekends/Bank Holidays used to be good. Does anyone remember Harry And The Hendersons?

I remember The Munsters or Beverley Hillbillies used to be repeated at Saturday lunchtimes when I was a kid with Grandstand on BBC1 and Saint and Greavsie on ITV after The Chart Show..
(jeez... I've gone of on a nostalgia trip again..)

Or was the The Munsters Today? ( I remember it first time around at 2.50pm on mondays in stv land, another sitcom was Step by Step.
back on track, BBC2 could be so much more promising, and yet it wasting away.
