Only just days in to the "New Look" at Sky Movies & a lot of members are very unhappy with the new format.

Last week, we were able to view 12 movie channels (not incl. HD channels), then the "New Look" started & we were only able to access 10 Movie Channels, so it looks like we only lost 2 channels in this make over.

No, we lost out big style. Sad " new movie channels just show 10hrs worth of movies each day & these are the same movies at the same times each day. What a waste of time & energy as these 5 films can be watched over the weekend, which leaves another 5 days of wishing new films were around. On 2 more movie channels, there's a reduced viewing times.

All in All, we have seen a reduction of 36% in Sky Movies transmissions & since the new channels are named, eg, Sky Comedy, we will only find just 1 funny film on at any given time of day. Under the old layout, we could see a funny film on one of the channels & saying we have already seen it, then there were other chances to see another funny film on another channel.

Sky has also started filling times out showing older movies & on their Sky ScFi/Horror channel, it was around 20 minutes between the end of one film & the start of another film, Now that space between films has increased to 50 minutes. So, only being on from 12pm to 4am, a lot of time is lost or as Sky would have it, saving on a payout to show another movie.

I hope that a lot of members here will join many Sky members & give negative feedback about this "New Look" at Sky Movies & threaten to cancel one's subscription. The more members who complain, might just force Sky in to listening to their members, instead of treating us like brainless morons.

So complain. A 36% loss of services is one hell of a hike in membership comissions as the prices have not Dropped to equal the service we now get.

Bah. I gave up on Sky long ago. When they started bulking it up with sister channels, (Sky 1,2 and 3. Sky sports 1 2 and 3 and about 20 other sports channels) And then there's all those crap channels, most of which in the 200s, that nobody watches. Sky's just getting too damn big, and the BBC seems to be heading that way as well.

Personally I think Sky Movies is a rip-off, it's better now they've decided to give the channels a particular genre each, but it's still a rip off as they've reduced the amount of Movies being shown, albeit they've increased the amount of Movies being shown outside of the Watershed.

I'm personally sticking to DVD's for my Movies, all you have to do is wait a litle while and they often come down to about £6 a go.

And I can't grumble with Film4 either.

I assume also non-Sky viewers have probably lost Sky Movies HD1/2 too - unless they are broadcast on cable in non-HD form. (Are they available on Sky in non-HD form).

The listings mags still aren't quite right - What's on TV has a completly different EPG line up to TV Quick.

They are not available in non-HD form at all.

I personally one of the few who don't mind the changes. It's enabled me to unsubscribe from all the "crap", plus I don't mind the higher rated movies pre-watershed. Some people are moaning that they have to enter their PIN during the day now, but "lazy" just springs to mind for that.

It's funny i only had a conversation with someone at work today who said are we going to see a reduction in subscription now we have lost 2 movie channels. Of course we know we wont as this is Sky we are talking about and there wallet must be bursting at the seams. It has certainly made me reconsider just how much i really need Sky now and whether it is worth continuing with a company that doesn't look after you. The new movie channel set up is just awful, it doesn't help in anyway. Sky should be concentrating on buying films and getting new media not farting around renaming channels every five minutes. Freeview is certainly becoming more and more desirable for me and it's available in my area now too Very Happy

As I've stated in many threads on this topic, I cancelled my Movies subscription as soon as they announced this re-vamp.

Of course the biggest "rip-off" will be when they increase the broadcasting hours/channels again (and the subs accordingly) and try to sell it as an "improved service", when in fact all you will be getting is what you had before this latest marketing farce.

I'll give this latest trick 12 months before they back-track because of the loss of subscribers.

Incorrect. I can record 2 Sky channels and either watch Freeview channels or something I recorded earlier on Sky
