I've been misquoted - that original quote isn't mine, it's Roger Mellie's - he obv fukced up the tags. Coro ( I assume this means Coronation Street) is not funny, it's not clever and it's not my type of TV at all.

I assume you don't watch it then. Maybe if you did you would change your mind. I vehemently believe that it is an intelligently written, genuinely funny, comedy drama.

IMO its a drama serial not a comedy drama.

I agree in theory, but I do believe that from the writing and the subtle comedy that the show is famous for does warrant the term 'comedy drama'. I personally don't think that takes anything away from the show, as it can give us fantastic drama as well, as it has proved time after time after time.

When I said 'genuinely funny' maybe you thought I saw it as just a comedy. I don't. I do think the comedy and drama is balanced very well.

From MediaGuardian...

ITV's decision to move The X Factor to a later slot to avoid a head-to-head clash with Strictly Come Dancing paid off for both reality talent shows on Saturday night.

The X Factor drew an average of 9.2 million viewers between 6.35pm and 8.05pm, at a 40% share, with ratings peaking at 7.30pm with 11 million viewers and a 47% share, according to unofficial overnights.

The performance of the X Factor edition featuring the seven remaining finalists more than justified the network's decision to move the show an hour later in the evening to avoid another potentially bloody clash with Strictly Come Dancing.

Last week's head to head saw The X Factor draw 6.9 million viewers and a 32% share over 90 minutes from an earlier start time.

Strictly Come Dancing also benefited from the shift, increasing its viewing figures to 9 million and a 41% share between 5.45pm and 7pm. This was a notable improvement on last week's figures of 8.2 million viewers and a 38% share over its 80-minute running time.

Strictly Come Dancing's results show at 8.30pm was also a winner with 8.4 million viewers and a 35% share. The X Factor results show between 8.55pm and 9.30pm pulled in 7.7 million viewers and a 33% share.

Another beneficiary of ITV1's Saturday scheduling was All Star Family Fortunes at 8.05pm, which ITV sandwiched between The X Factor and its 8.55pm results. The entertainment quiz show, hosted by Vernon Kay and this week featuring Jimmy Osmond and Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox, drew an average of 5.7 million viewers and a 24% share.

All Star Family Fortunes' main opponent, The National Lottery: 1 vs 100 at 7.45pm managed to maintain its usual standards by winning 6.4 million viewers and a 27% share at 7.45pm, but it only had the tail end of the X Factor to contend with.

However, The X Factor's new opponent, Robin Hood, took a dent, falling to 5.4 million viewers and a 23% share between 7pm and 7.45pm from last week's average of 6.1 million viewers and a 29% share from 7.05pm.
