I thought the BBC would have come on quite late tonight as My Family didn't come on until 8.35, when it was scheduled for 8.30, so I assumed the News would be pushed back to 10.03 or something like that.
Well the first time we've had NAT at 10.00 this week and it is bang on for once, the last time they did that was during the middle of a Bond film.

ITV1 bang on at Ten tonight, BBC 30 seconds later.

And with the BBC News having a longer headlines sequence (Huw Edwards going on about how they will be 'assessing the impact of this news' and other nonsense), the ITV News was well into the first news story by the time Huw said 'Good Evening'
It does seem that there is a new thing going on on BBC1 which says the news no longer needs to be exact, as there wasn't nothing special on BBC1 tonight. (Wednesdays are often the worst day of the week on BBC1) and the previous programme finished in ample time for an exact start, but loads of trailers were shown instead

LOL, yes. Because of course it truly IS the end of the world when ITV starts late, when listening to some on this forum.

But of course, being a seasoned viewer of a channel that apparently routinely runs their late night news programme a few minutes late, you'd be used to late news shows anyway..... maybe they're trying to get you to defect....
Isn't it nice that with BBC news, a late running show is an exception rather than a rule?

Plus, of course Katherine, barring any overrunning or extended football coverage, BBC1 has the Ten O`Clock News on every weekday, and most Sundays too.
