I'm not disputing that LN makes good idents, it's just that the current ones that they do are too simular. In my opinion, if all companies are going to go to LN, there should be lots of different styles. I know that this may be the fault of the TV companies as well.

I love your mocks, Martin, they look gr8! especially the BBC One ident - I love the way you've done the globe. And the BBC Two ident - the lighting effects put together with the music makes it feel really dramatic. Do you think you could do an update of your BBC One ident? Like, with the spinning globe and 1 in the middle, and adding a box in the bottom right hand corner (like BBC Two) for the logo. I think that really would look good. Well done, again.

Why should they use a skyline? They no longer serve a region, and would want to distance themselves from the past (being a ITV regional provider - i'm not saying they don't want to be again), but at the moment they are just a production company.
On the contrary, Thames is milking its past - have you seen how many videos of their old programmes there are in the shops? And IMHO they deserve to have the skyline even if they aren't officially London's ITV station anymore. London needs a weekday provider with some identity - Carlton have done diddly squat to identify with this region, I don't feel that Carlton is
my
station as I did about Thames and as people in the Midlands feel about Central, Yorkshire people feel about YTV and Welsh people identifing with HTV. Not as much now, but they have a stronger identity than Carlton does.
Our only hope of regional identity now is LWT and they do it quite well although that awful videowall ident has got to go! BringBacktheBlinds!
Hopefully, Thames will come back - its unlikely but doesn't mean we can stop dreaming! BTW Great mock Whataday! You've inspired me to do my own! I'll put my money where my mouth is after the weekend (I'm going up to Calendarland for the weekend DUN-DI-DUN-DUN-DUNNNN)
