who watches The Krypton Factor does so for the human interest stories that EastEnders just cannot provide, and not because it's quite an entertaining challenge show. This round took the best part of an hour to film.

Laughing the other reason is the programmer is what? 22mins long? I sure the original was up 27/ 28

According to this review the intelligence round has been removed!! Replaced by 'chats'. Worrying signs!

Unfortunately it's true (i went to a recording last sunday) but the assault course is much better than last years!

That's disapointing, it was one of my favourite rounds.

For goodness sake, there is too much contestant talking on gameshows these days. I have given up on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? because of this. The original Krypton Factor was half an hour long and it had two more rounds than the latest (Nineteen Ninety Twenty) incarnation of the show. Thus my favourite gameshow of all time was 100%, 100 questions and that is it.

Additional: Remember Nineteen Ninety Five? Some fool decided that The Krypton Factor needed a revamp and one element that was lost just happens to have been the Intelligence round, this didn't go down too well and it was axed with no further series until Nineteen Ninety Nineteen. Oh well as long as they do not bring back 'Mount Krypton'!

Down from 6 rounds to 4. Improvements in the assault course, yes, but that is unlikely to be as good or as iconic as the original one and now they have reduced the brainpower content for chats. I'm apprehensive about the series now. Besides, if the type of contestant is anything like those participating in the Sage-inspired business-dominated first, they'll be as dull as ditchwater anyway!

100% was a cracking show, no frills and all substance with a little bit of levity. Very much a case of the content triumphing over stylistics. Colour of Money was rightly panned and would never have got off the ground if it was shot without flashing graphics in some dingy warehouse. The acid test of a quality format is if it succeeds without pyrotechnics and hype, demonstrated by undeniable greats like Krypton, Mastermind and University Challenge. Perhaps not coincidentally, in most solid, testing formats the rewards for success are modest (if any) winnings or, commonly, simply the honour of receiving title and trophy.

From the insightful piece linked to earlier ( www.bothersbar.co.uk ) concerning the Observation round:

"This round has changed a little bit - everybody gets two questions, taking it in turn. If they get it right they win two points, if they get it wrong they lose a point (minus figures are possible) and it's offered on the buzzer with the same points on offer. They use the term "stealing points" here which implies something that doesn't really actually happen..."

This worries me further. There is a risk some contestants may get easier or more obvious things to spot than others. I'd much rather the same questions were posed to all 4 contestants together.

Couldn't they make it 45 minutes in length (including commercials) and put it on in the same slot as Family Fotunes has now?

I think Krypton is well-suited to running for 45 minutes, amosc100. This would enable the full complement of 6 rounds comfortably, without being too lengthy. Hour-long quiz shows are typically too difficult to commit to as a viewer, while 30 minutes rushes Krypton.

Returns ITV 1 Tuesday 5th January 2010:

I've read elsewhere on this forum that it'll keep its 7.30 slot of last series.

Certainly does!!! Tuesday 5th January at 7.30pm!!! Great news!! Shame about the 7.30pm slot and the lack of a Response or an Intelligence round - but still, good to see it back again! Very Happy

If the semi finals & final were filmed in front of the public, were the main heats filmed in front of friends and family?
