At the rate ITV are going they wont have any studios in 5 years time.
I wouldn't be surprised - studios are not core activities for many broadcasters these days - and ITV in particular have little interest in them as they don't make huge amounts of money. (AIUI TLS has always run at a loss - I wouldn't be surprised if the site were sold next time ITV need to make some money...)
If something you do in-house loses you money, and you can get it cheaper on the open market, why bother to continue doing it in-house?
(Though if you aren't careful you can end up like Scotland - where the only decent studio in the whole country is at BBC Pacific Quay...)

Spotted on the ITV website, terms & conditions for applications to Krypton Factor 2011, so theoretically a third series of modern Krypton has the go-ahead:

These terms and conditions relate to your application to take part in the Programme which the Producer proposes but does not undertake to produce for broadcast on ITV1.

The Producer reserves the right to extend the Closing Date and Time at their sole discretion. There is no restriction on the number of times you may apply up to the Closing Date and Time.

Yes, but there was a contestant call for the 2nd series of The Colour Of Money, and that was quietly dropped and the final show of the first series has never been shown - so a shout for Series 3 contestants for New KFac does not necessarly indicate it has the nod yet.

There a difference, Colour of money was Crap, and I dare say there made an appeal during the first run.

Realistically a call for contestants for a show that may not go ahead is better than a commissioned show that has no contestants. In any case a broadcaster doesn't have to just order one series of something, multi-series deals are common. Mock The Week's been commissioned for two new series.
