I also remember a not-so-subtle dig at Tyne Tees (Granada were backing a rival bid, NorthEast TV, against Tyne Tees in the franchise auction) in a 1991 episode in the "quick-fire" round at the end:
" Apart from Tyne Tees , which is the only ITV station named after a British river?"

Yeah, I always thought they just did the lot, but as a young lad I did at the time. I always thought how amazing it was that they could all do it in 2 minutes. Turns out 2 hours was more precise! "At least one contestant was moved to tears by the difficulty of the puzzles". You never saw that in the show.
GB: She can't get the piece in and it looks like shes having some sort of breakdown, but she'll be back...
