Anyone else see Kombat Opera: The Applicants tonight on BBC2.

It's basically the BBC's response to the 50,000 morons who complained about Jerry Springer - The Opera.

Commission six mini-operas from the makers.

Basically all spoof TV shows, this week being The Applicants with Sir Alan Prentice played by John Thompson - brilliant!

And the news geek in me especially liked the line:

"Day two and disaster. However it's in a foreign country and no English person died so it's of no importance"

Damn, I missed it.

Is it Jon Culshaw playing David Dimbleby?

Loved 'Jerry Springer - The Opera' but thought this was awful. Disappointing.

I enjoyed it. Was amused by the bloke who got fired being beheaded by an axeman, and the play on the word 'Applicants' right at the end.

I wanted to watch The Applicants last night, however it clashed with Recovery on BBC ONE and I forgot to tape it...

Does anyone know what other shows they're going to be spoofing? Does this include the long-awaited Newsnight opera?

It was very good and funny but it was hard to see the connection betwen it and the apprentice at some points

Just a reminder episode 2 in half an hour or so... Spouse Change.

I do think they should have mixed up the order a bit though so we'd have something completly different to the reality TV piss take like Question Time or Manorama this week.
