With the original Treguard, and original producers, creator, studio, and guest actors - I personally hope this leads to a future revival for the show. With videogames, and the growth in popularity of geek culture, this take on D&D is still entertaining, and would be affordable with computer graphics etc.

My only complain is the original opening is not featured, and the new version of the music is more subtle!

Good to see the acting in the first 5 minutes is as ropey as ever Smile

It's brilliant they've got Mark Knight and Clifford Barry back too, slipped into their old roles easily.

It's not the same studio as wherever the original is, surely? It's almost certainly all green screen,

It's been produced at the same studios in Norwich. It is clearly all blue screen, on the original from what I can tell the bit the team sat in was a physical set, but they probably didn't have the budget to rebuild it.

They couldn't even afford the clipboards.

That's the bit that feels awkward to me - Treguard and the contestants sitting in a real physical set always made for a good dividing line between that and the dungeon, but it all looks a bit samey on the new one. Also a shame they used the later titles, the series 4 and 5 theme with the original titles was always the best IMHO!

Otherwise pretty good, would love to see more. Not sure about using "You Tube celebrities" though, especially those who would been toddlers when it finished the first time around. As someone said to me it's the equivalent of someone bringing back Crackerjack and then asking my generation to be interested...

But the whole point is that it's part of YouTube's Geek Week, hence the use of 'YouTubers'.

Knightmare was filmed in Anglia TV's Studio E - which is now EPIC. Originally the castle set was positioned at one end of the studio with the main blue screen area at the other. While the castle set was a physical set, there were blue screen elements to allow effects to be added (such as views into the "pool" where they could see what the player saw.

There were enough halo's evident in the new YouTube video that shows both the castle and game room are both blue screen shoots. It doesn't look like the budget would have extended to a physical set for the castle, but it would have been nice if they'd used EPIC's virtual studio downstairs with a fairly decent recreation to make it look different to the dungeon. I especially liked when Daisy goes to get the helmet and has to squeeze past the bench, despite it looking like the wall is a long way behind. Laughing

I'm aware of that (more than you might think, my wife works for YT!). But as many point out in the comments it's a shame they had to use the same faces they push all the time, it adds nothing to the finished product (in fact they seem to take the p out of the thing at times).

Thought I'd dig up this thread to mention that apparently a longer cut of the episode is being produced. From what I've heard a number of rooms were dropped from the final cut. Also the reason for the anti-chamber being virtual was apparently due to there not being enough time to build a set. Worth visiting http://www.knightmare.com to read some of the interviews taken during filming.

Presumably intentionally, Isy Sutti can do better than that! I wonder how she got involved, I was surprised to see her on there.
