God bless Challenge? for showing episodes of Knightmare. In my experience, Challenge? is one of the better channels for listening to their viewers and providing what they want. So if there is something you want to see it really is worth e-mailing them and letting them know, and they do respond.

Anyway, back to Knightmare. I have only a very vague recollection of a team completing the challenge. Does anyone remember a team who completed the game, and under what circumstances ? How did it all end ? And over how many episodes of Knightmare did it take to reach the end ?

It's still a classic show, and I'm glad they are showing the episodes prior to Pickle and the Eye-Shield era.

From my memories, there wasn't that many winners of Knightmare at first, they just kept making new levels up until the contestant died. Then in 1991/2, one team actually won and they even managed to get onto Motormouth to share their experiences! Since that team won, it became easier to win Knightmare as teams were winning left, right and centre after that as they didn't need to go through as many levels to complete it.

I think the contestant wearing the helmet comes back into Tregard's dunegon to join up with his fellow teamates and all four of them go into the specially created CSO screen and walk off into the sunset, I think there is footage of that on yesterday's CITV B-day bash.

I used to love Knightmare when I was younger, I couldn't wait for Friday tea-time to come around. It's probably the finest thing Anglia has made. Although watching Knightmare on the b-day bash yesterday made that illusion I had as a child vanish as it looks terribly dated now and you can make out what is real life and what has been computer created. Oh, if only I was 8 again!

I loved Knightmare too but the illusion of it was a bit shattered over christmas. Of course I knew it wasn't real, but I never noticed how unreal it actually looks. I don't know whether it's because I was younger or whether it was because computer graphics have moved on so much, but it just didn't feel the same as it used to.

I also found the title sequence very...well very crap actually wheras I used to remember it as being stunning.

It was still good to watch it though, and good on Challenge for deservedly giving it a permanent place in the schedules. I'd like to see a bit more golden shot too.

According to something I heard the other day (possibly on the mini-documentary about Knightmare) only 8 teams ever won Knightmare

BTW in the early episodes the sets were hand drawn rather than computer generated

I found this excellent in-depth site about Knightmare

http://www.knightmare.clara.net/

Looks at pilots, the series, the aftermath.

It's all in there.

And Challenge are showing The Adventure Game. HOORAY!

The one today was a repeat of the first of the 3 episodes they showed in the Cult Christmas season, hope they've got the whole series

I wish I had access to challenge? Sad I remember that the Sci-Fi channel used to show them a few years back, and me waking up at 7:30am to watch it Laughing

According to replies to my post on the MHP - there are only 5 episodes of the Golden Shot that still exsist that werent wiped or destroyed - and challenge have already shown 4 of them. 3 b&w and 2 colour

Why would they have been destroyed? Most of them were telerecorded onto film anyway, so it's not like the VT's were wiped. I think is more likely to be a rumour than anything else.

Probably for the same reason that so much old TV has been lost - to save money/space.

In the case of The Golden Shot it must have seemed especially unlikely that it would ever be needed for a repeat compared with other shows
