Has anybody seen medi guardian today? Big news - Kirsty Young has quit ITV news to return to Channel 5!!!
Quite a shame really - when she started on ITV I didnt think she was that good, but her performance on the day of the US attacks proved me so wrong. Now she's going back to a c r a p station that no one watches. Apparently she wanted more family time and didnt like being No.2 to Trevor McDonald. So expect more Mary Nightingale at 6.30 on ITV!

Wow, I knew this would happen! I emailed Channel 5 a while ago but they denied everything. I hope that with Kirsty's return sees the return of a decent studio as well!

She is definitely more Channel 5 than ITV1. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC started to woo her to them...

Yeah I heard about this last night.

Apparently, she will come back in the new year and there will be a new looking 5News

at last! - i think shes right to go back to ch5, 5 news is about the only good thing on the channel - i think noon is a good time for news. i reakon it could mean a new studio - or even a return to the newsrooom look.

What a shame. I was warming to Kirsty, but don't we think it's a case here of Kirsty spitting her dummy out because she can't be ITV's no.1. I mean let's face it she was never going to displace Trevor McDonald, and it's very arrogant to presume that she would. Trevor will be no.1 at ITV until he retires I guess.

Never mind, I guess this will secure Katie Derhams future and lets hope for more Mary.

I reckon Kirsty was better on C5 than she ever was on ITV1, she gave the channel a well known face with what was at the time a really fresh style. By going to ITV1 she basically became 'one of them', cos let's face it their method of news bulletins isn't C5 style, but C5 lost it's character in it's news because of her.
In otherwords what I'm saying Kirsty isn't right without being on C5 and vice versa!
