Kirsty Young taken off air

ITV have pulled Kirsty Young off screen after Channel 5 snatched her back, its Christa Ackroyd and Calendar all over again.

Or Home & Away with ITV and C5 - according to media guardian. On a slightly different note, Mary Nightingale, the most likely successor to Kirsty at ITV is apparently at the centre of a bidding war between ITV and the BBC. This is according to the Daily Mail and I havent read it so dont quote me on it....

Once again, ITV has proved to be very childish.

Thank God! She is awful IMHO. She mumbles the news and she just isn't someone I want reading my news. Hopefully, they'll bring back Julia Somerville from the ITN News Channel (who Kirsty replaced) - there's a newsreader with authority, gravitas and good looks. (like ITN's Anna Ford)

Where is Julia nowadays? She's not been on ITN for months now.

Does anyone think this is true or know of it being true? I hope not! I really don't want her on BBC - I don't like her! I much prefer Fiona Bruce/Sian Williams/Sarah Montague!

I don't know anything but Liquid News said that the BBC were rumoured to want Mary to present BBC Breakfast.
I have to say having worked with Mary when she read the news on 5 Live she is a lovely lady.

I like Mary too - she's my second choice after Julia who should have first dibs as it was her that was replaced for Kirsty who thank god is going back to Channel 5 pops bottle of champagne and hands it out!

I think Kirsty Young is great. It's a shame to see her go from ITV News.

I suppose I could turn to Channel 5, but my crappy picture isn't much good. No, but Kirsty is a brilliant newsreader, and really sexy! Course....that doesn't matter when it comes to reading the news does it !

ITV is said to be looking for a big name replacement for Kirsty Young other than who they have - so who might they poach or might they bring someone from ITN News Channel?

Kirsty going to C5 and possibly Mary going to the beeb, is great because I like them both as newsreaders and don't like ITV news! Kirsty is perfect for C5 and suits the style well (News relaunch maybe?), and I think Mary would be good on the beeb.
