When does Kirsty Young come back to ITN anyone know ? Most of her programmes have gone to other presenters ie.

Ratrap - Mary Nightingale
ITV Evening News - Mary Nightingale
The People Versus - Kaye Adams

Is she coming back soon and do you think she will displace Mary at ITN ?

Well apparently Mary is just filling in until she returns. What happens to her after that I don't know. I reckon they'll persuade Trevor McD to retire in the next few months and stick Kirsty on the News at Ten.

I'd probably expect her back in a few months time still. It's about six months since she gave birth isn't it? Actually, it may be even longer than that, but I imagine ITN are keen to have her back soon.

I still think she should go back to Channel 5. It's so much more her style, and she'd get a lot more pay I believe (50% more than she gets from ITV apparently).

Really not sure - should be soonish surely...

As to what she is going to do then I doubt they will move Mary Nightingale. Maybe Kirsty will just be Trevor's backup on the News at Ten or maybe they will move Mary back to Lunch?

I doubt that will happen actually, earlier this year Trev signed a £2.5m contract to present News at Ten for the next FOUR years. I think Mary may be secure, she seems very popular with ITV these days, on the news, Wish You Were Here & Ratrap.

The interview with Mary Nightingale in yesterday's Mirror answers most of our questions. Here's a bit of it...

'Now I'm just looking forward to the end of July when Kirsty comes back, and I'll be able to relax and take some time out. I'll be working weekends and lunchtimes at ITN, bits and pieces but not every day, and that will do me a lot of good. August and September is my time to chill out.'

So Kirsty's back in just a few weeks then.

Yep, an interview with Kirsty in the Telegraph yesterday! She's back on Monday, 30 July and is eager to get back to work apparently. She'll be presenting, she says, the ITV Evening News and standing in for Mr McDonald when he's away.

So, what does Mary mean by lunchtime and not every day - are her and John Suchet going to alternate. And at the weekend's - does that mean she's displacing Katie Derham?! And if August and September are her times to chill out, what is planned for October!!! An ITV News Channel?!! Smile

If you like Louise Lear from news 24 you will be glad to know she returns next month from maternity leave. (off topic i know but not worth starting a new one). Wouldnt this topic be better in general chat.

Louise Lear - weather?

I'm not too keen on that new one Nina someone or other.
