I'm sad to report that my friend and former colleague Keith Macklin died yesterday (Sat 1st Aug)

I think it would be easier to list what Keith hadn't done in the media, but he was a broadcasting legend and a true gentlman.

He was a pioneer in regional broadcasting, from early BBC Northern radio opts, one of the first voices on BBC Radio Merseyside, one of the first presenters of BBC Look North West (pre North West Tonight), Border TV Lookaround, chief commentator for ITV, Yorkshire TV, rugby reporter for The Times, co-founder of Red Rose Radio in Preston.

I've probably missed plenty, but Keith was one of the first to bring sport on TV to life. You could not wish to meet a more kind and caring man, a joy to work with.

Thank you Keith.

Another one of the Border TV greats gone. Sad

Keith did quite a few programmes for Border - amongst these, the quiz series Brain of the Border and (with John Smail) The Union and the League, a Friday night rugby preview show which aired in the late 80s and early 90s.
