Not quite sure why it's "very" sad news. She was 80 - nothing really unusual about an 80 year old dying.
I hope so. What a load of dreary rubbish!

Quite right. For anybody over fifty who dies it can no longer be listed as tragic. Once they hit ninety, it's not even deemed sad.
Honestly.......
Honestly.......

They did mention it and also said that she was in their soaps.
She was Vera Hopkins in Corrie from 1973-1975 and Doris Luke in Crossroads 1978-1985 and again in the 2001-2 series.

No mention of it on ITV News how bad is that she appeared in two of their big soaps Corrie and Crossroads .

Was that tonight? As last night only the BBC and Sky had covered her death.

Is it cold where you are Moz?
I don't see what age has got to do with it: Kathy Staff was a well-liked actress who played at least one iconic role-- I for one enjoyed her comedy acting talent. Judging by tributes, she was admired in her hometown of Dukinfield.
In your opinion LOTSW is dreary rubbish. If it were really rubbish, I doubt it would've lasted all these years! I think its being "dreary" is part of the comedy value; archetypal northern lugubrious humour, I'd say.

Sorry - must have got the wrong impression. I thought these forums were all about giving our own opinions. Can't believe I got it so wrong. I'll stick to the party line next time. Fantastic programme that Wine thing. Did so well lasting all those years in the fiercly competitive Sunday afternoon slot.
