Kate has just been on CBBC to plug todays show and at the end the presenter said to kate that she had heard that Kate was leaving.
Kate said that it was true, that she's leaving at the end of the week and she's going on do Watchdog which she says she already does on Thursday and tne news on friday(morning, must mean Breakfast)

I suppose it was to be expected really - after all this other stuff shes started doing. What I dont understand about reading the news on Breakfast doesnt really test anybody journalistically, its just reading the autocue - no interviews or anything. Moira Stuart must get bored with that, she must be really peeved the BBC havent offered her anything decent to do since she left the 6 o'clock news - perhaps Kate has been brought in to take over full time? Moira should definitely either be a main presenter (like Jeremy & Sophie) on Breakfast or they should put her back on the 6 or the 1 or even weekends.

Well with Nicky Campbell still in New York, will he be presenting Watchdog tomorrow? He may of course come back...
Kate is destined for bigger things, I'm sure - and I wonder who they will get in to Newsround to replace her...
She's always just been a glorified announcer. That's why she always Number Two'd on the Six and News After Noon. Weekend bulletins rarely used to use Q and A sessions with reporters.
In the olden days, all BBC news readers (Dougall, Baker, Kendall etc) were announcers who read the news. She's a hangover from that.
It was only in the eighties that journalists started to read the news.
Yeah - she looked quite smart and more grown up. Kate is one of our rising stars!
I think it's time for her to move on. I wonder who'll take her place on Newsround?

Moira Stuart - glorified announcer?!!?!?!?! What? She's been reading & anchoring the news for longer than any other serving BBC newsreader - probably the longest serving in Britain and got an MBE earlier in the year - if that doesnt qualify her for a better job I dont know what does. I also remember Moira anchoring the 6 on many occasions - in fact I can tell you, I remember quite clearly one of her last ever appearances on the 6 - she anchored and Edward Stourton was the number 2.
As for Kate, I do think she could go onto higher things, but look what happened to other former female Newsround presenters. Helen Rollason - the legend - became fatally ill, Juliet Morris did Breakfast for a time then promptly dis-appeared to do religious programmes, and Julie Etchingham also went to Breakfast as a main presenter and was then axed in the October 2000 re-launch, only making occasional appearances since.

I guess we will just have to wait.
I'm not saying announcing isn't important.
But does anyone know if Moira has ever been a journalist? She started on News After Noon, with Richard Whitmore, I don't think she'd done anything news-wise before.
It was headlined the 'Black and White News Show' in some papers, by the way. Having a black news reader was news in itself in 1981.
Adios Kate, Newsround will be poorer for your absence. Good luck for future projects, and I think you'll be on main news programming shortly. I think she'll start on the One O'Clock news myself.
As for Moira Stuart, I think she was one of the regulars on the Adventure Game in the early 1980s too. I think that she's journalism grounded, but don't hold me to that.
