Pardon my hint of american showbusiness but isn't Kay supposed to "go both ways"?

Pardon my hint of legalism, but isn't that the sort of comment that could "land you in court?" Shocked

Moving on swiftly, I caught about five minutes of it and it's clear that this is such a badly done show. Stick to what you know BBC.

It was an awful show, there's nothing really new here to make it stand out from the others that hasn't been done before (both BBC & ITV) apart from the duet format, so why bother ?

I don't understand the appeal of Tess Daly, I always thought she was wooden back in the days of SM:TV, I don't see any real improvement.

Although ITV have flogged this genre to death, presentationally the shows usually look good, this just looked really cheap and under rehearsed. Strictly Come Dancing offered something different, this is just derivative and safe, and the BBC don't need to be that.

Basically its all done for this Sports Relief (lets get the public to vote for celebrities as a way of making cash) and how singing can be classed as a 'sport' I don't know! Rolling Eyes

The show is awful! At least Lulu speaks her mind unlike her substitute, Cilla B on 'Soapstar Superstar'.

I cannot stand Gaby Roslin! The woman is SO fake its ridiculous! "Ooh cameras are here - lets be happy". She is really a stroppy, selfish cow who bullies people to get things her own way. Her face said it all as she realised she was about to get booted out - gutted. Laughing

I notice the contribution to charity has now been cut down to 12p out of 25p (though still better than ITV's 10p out of 50p).

And if your going to put a husband and wife together, at least have them present more than the last few minutes in the same room!

Oh end this show now! Its a complete mess. The production, the contestants...urrrrrgh!

This whole show is clearly a rushed bodged job. The judges scoreboards malfunctioned, there were sound problems throughout the programme, the studio is too small....I could go on.. Oh and the public aren't helping by voting the worst singers to stay.

Lastly, the show was cut off at the end - probably a good thing.

Never knew that! If it is, I do apologise. Bo' Selecta gave me the wrong impression but I didn't know if it was true or not. Simply curiousity. Embarassed

This is not the type of programme we have come to expect from the BBC where it is an immitation of everything that has preceeded it and has also been dogged with technical problems.

Besides all that it was quite enjoyable to watch but I feel the BBC don't need to make programmes like this as ITV has this already covered sufficiently.

I have seen other threads/posts claiming that BBC1 is the new ITV1 - maybe this programme adds some credance to that thinking!

Appallingly amateurish. What on earth was that so-called "performance" from Penny Whats-'er-name anyway? As Russell-The-Voice said, "I thought this was supposed to be a singing competition?"

Very little real talent. The chap from "Casualty" isn't bad. Chris from "Hollyoaks" is dreadful, but is clearly there to get the youth vote. Gaby Roslin was shameful, and her so-called singer parter was as bad. Awful, awful, awful. Fiona Bruce probably shouldn't have been voted off last night, but to an extent she deserved it for being like a hyperactive, attention-seeking kid at a party. Ok, Fiona, you read the news and you're letting your hair (plus extensions) down. Get over it.

The worst thing about this shambles, though, is the presentation and the production. The "Backstage Bar" is like a weeknight in a funeral home. The interviews and adjudication is rushed, the scoreboards don't always work, the audience have been told to scream hysterically for mediocrity... nonsense. Utter, devastatingly bad, nonsense which makes "Soapstar Superstar" look like a class act and "Strictly Come Dancing" look BAFTA-worthy.

In the words of Lulu - "a train-wreck".

Do we know what the ratings have been like? The BBC must be kicking themselves for not going with the Strictly Ice Dancing spin-off, this show is rubbish.

Also you can tell it comes from TC1 because it's quite a large set and the backstage area is still in the studio. There is a certain crampness to TC1, if you put in a large set the audience has to be small like on Children In Need, but if you put in a large audience the set has to be small. The place has no atmosphere, compare it to Fountain Studios where they do The X Factor, or the studio that was built for light entertainment The London Television Studio's Studio 1.
