BBC1's new celebrity based singing show has started tonight hosted by Vernon Kay and Tess Daly

I did think when it was first announced that it was going to be on every Saturday but it is actually on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

It's a bit like Soapstar Superstar in that respect, as is the format of the show, although the voting is like Strictly Come Dancing

Any opinions, over on DigitalSpy they are liking it

I saw ten minutes of it. It's seems to be a hybrid of Soapstar Superstar and Strictly Come Dancing. Lulu being the poor man's Cilla.

I'm not a fan of it myself. I see it's in aid of Sport Relief which is the poorer version of Comic Relief, and this is the poorer version of Comic Relief does Fame Accademy.

I think the whole dance-off/sing-off format is becoming very tired very fast now though.

Yawn! How many more of these singing talent shows are we meant to put up with??

Well done Rick Astley for thinking about what he's doing and walking out before the show started. Laughing

On another note, What studio are they using? Its tiny!

Usual story though, Nicky Campbell couldn't sing, judges loved him...blah blah blah boring.

Its pathetic the Beeb launch this to try and compete with Soapstar Superstar. No doubt ITV will bite back again in a few weeks..its getting boring and the only competition is between the BBC and ITV.

From what I saw...(around 10 mins) it seemed pretty fun and harmful.

I'm sure it will be a success... has that strictly come dancing formula which has been imitated by pretty much every celeb entertainment show going at the moment.

Thought Thursday was a pretty random day to have the show on though. Anyone agree?

Laughing From the show's perspective, it's not like him walking out was a great loss anyway...at least, not IMO!

This face-off / viewer vote / panel of judges format is heading dangerously close to overkill at this rate.

There was Fame Academy which I didn't care much for; X Factor; SCD, but then even more with Soapstar Superstar, Dancing On Ice, and now this...aargh!

Music shows normally are done out of TC3 aren't they?
The backstage area is a bit bigger in this one than the one used for SCD, so that given that TC3 is a bit smaller than TC1 which hosts SCD that may explain the rather cramped nature of the main set.

This show was apparently done from TC1. It was one of the most cringeworthy and embarrassing programmes I've ever had the misfortune to watch (if only briefly). The format is so tired it collapsed and died a long time ago. What ever possesses the so-called celebrities to take part I'll never know - it can only be money. Which executive producer thought that people would actually want to while away their Thursday evening by listening to Nicky Campbell 'singing' very badly indeed ? It lasted about a minute before I simply had to switch over.

Quite!

There just aren't enough celebrity singing shows on TV are there! Embarassed

Are they doing the voting Eurovision style. I only saw the end when they were giving out points based on the judges ranking, and I know it was mentioned about the losers having to go to the regions to win votes.
