I've just been watching the the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on the Wellington Videowall, screen 4.

Oh dear, I feel so embarrassed for the little darlings, singing songs about playing and skipping, it might make your local priest or cheif constable sweat like a peodophile, but it makes very boring television for the rest of us. Also, Tara Palmer-Tompkinson has incredibly small breasts. Never noticed that before.

What are your opinions on the downfall of Saturday Night television? Surely we've hit rock bottom. I didn't think it could get any worse than You've Been Framed.......

As its a spinoff from the proper Eurovision what's it doing on ITV anyway, didn't BBC1 want it?

As this show is basically just 'A Song for Europe', I wonder will the actual Young Eurovision be just like proper Eurovision, with cheesy foreign presenters and a UK based commentator?

I may be wrong but I don't think the BBC wanted it so ITV got the chance.

Slightly off topic..does anyone know whether the BBC will broadcast the Wednesday night semi-final on next years Eurovision?

I suppose that depends on whether the Royaume Uni will be participating.

Since we pour millions into the EBU, wasn't there some opinion that we'd get a bye through to the finals, even though we got nul points last year? Or are the semis and the finals just what *used* to be the finals, split up over two separate events?

I'm a Eurovision fan through and through so I had to check out the nonsense on ITVScum.

After five minutes I hit the off button, thank god the BBC dropped this naff ******* son of Eurovision. It sits well with the other s h i t e on ITVScum at least.

As for next year's proper Eurovision, I would have thought the BBC would show the semi-final. I only hope they choose something better to represent us in sunny Turkey! Smile

The one thing I would saw about the ITVScum version of the show is that its on at prime time. If the Beeb showed the Song For Europe after 6pm on Sunday, it may get a bigger audience and more interest.

My thought is that the semi-final may go onto BBC Three, since I think it's really going to be for the Eurovision fans only (like me!). The casual viewer is not going to want to sit through two Eurovision Song Contests within days of each other. So I don't think the semi will be on BBC1 - for one we won't be in it (the UK does indeed get automatic qualification to the final), and considering the Eurovision received healthy ratings this year I don't expect the BBC will want to risk splitting the audience by devoting two whole nights of BBC1 to it.

On the other hand, BBC Three/Choice has got well involved with Eurovision over the past two years, what with the previews and the post-show analysis, so I think the semi-final would find a natural home there.

If it's on Three we might get the fab Lorraine "Hulloo" Kelly back. Failing that it has to be Claudia Winklepickers!

Anorak's heaven on the results show just now.... They went through the whole of the UK and each ITV region got a mention!

What I found strange was that Channel TV came under the results for the South East - surely it's classed as a South West region, or did they include it in the South East results because it gets a feed from Meridian?

Going around the regions must surely have improved this programme in the eyes of some forum members. Not often you hear the words 'HTV Wales, HTV West, Ulster TV' etc on ITV1.

Yes, all the regions were lumped together, some very oddly, like Central being put in with Westcountry & HTV West (Carlton regions I know) was that the CITV woman doing those results ?

Yorkshire & Tyne Tees were lumped together but who was that bloke ?

Channel TV is always grouped with Meridian on ITV1, connecting it with the SW is just a BBC thing isn't it

Central always seem to use a CITV presenter with these sorts of shows.

Interestingly, as the show was made in Manchester, Granada's results were the last deciding vote, and London got shoved in the largest group with Anglia, Meridian and Channel as if they arn't important!
