I saw a bit of the scoring at the end, and I thought the commentary was dire. They kept speaking over the presenters, without dipping the sound out.

And they kept speaking over the scores, which is a bit stupid. I think Terry used to speak over the "Royamme Uni, sept points" part of the scoring, so the viewers at least got to hear the scoring in English. This was obviously not possible last night.

But in the words of my nan this morning: "what the hell was that all about?"

The scabby thing is that Ireland was not included. Im under 15, im talented and i could win! Sure, were just a small island in Europe and RTE is part of the EBU. Anyway, to my knowlage, Ireland has won more Eurovisions that anyone else. (Senior Eurovision that is)

It's not Eurovision's fault if Ireland doesn't want to take part.

I understant what u mean but EBU should have offered. At the moment, RTE is doing a show to look for the next Senior Eurovision entry. C over here, they dont care about junior talent. There is one show on RTE2 (that my friend was on) and thats it. Anyway, on that show, it is mainly girls doing Irish Dancing and singing and saying that they are better then everyone. Why cant we have the under 18's invade the Dail and do a good job.!

PS I am trailing off the subject.

I expect the EBU did offer it to RTE, but they must have refused.

I like how Nan Whataday has become the benchmark indicator of what's what on tv. And let us not forget the time she harrassed the hapless staff in Gas St that day with some good straight questioning.

I saw a bit of this chaos towards the end -- the bit with the poor Cypriot girl asked to repeat the scores again in a foreign language when everyone else understood what she meant. I'd have just run away crying.

Err - it wasn't that RTE will have been kept from entering - more that they decided not to enter. Each member of the EBU can apply for these things (and I'm sure Ireland would have been accepted if RTE had) - but not all countries will have wanted to... France didn't enter, and the BBC passed (though ITV1 stepped in)

The show wasn't exactly brilliant - and in the UK there is still a slight worry that these programmes aren't exactly palatable. (Those of us old enough to remember Minipops on C4 will know what I mean...)

Oh good, another paddy-out idea for the CiTV strand, fill the full 4-5pm slot up with Pop Idol Juniors.

And S Club Infants can take over and inherit the S Club Juniors/8 brand when they fall out with each other and split. Just think, loads of soppy songs about the Tweenies and stuff from the S Club Infants in an S Club style of song.

But RTE is part of the EBU, so it can hardly offer itself, can it?

Was it me or did TPT sound drunk/coked out of her head throughout. She slurred, talked over important bits, and was generally incoherent. I wonder what the BARB figures were for this shambles?

Isn't she like that all the time? Laughing
