Barry Cryer still appears regularly as a panelist on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.
He's still very funny - hasn't stopped having a razor sharp wit.

And reputed to be one of the nicest blokes in showbiz.

I’ve not met that many people in ‘showbiz’ but I can absoloutley atest to how kind and friendly Barry Cryer has been on the two occasions - through work - that I’ve met him.

The first was shortly after David Frost had died, but was for something unrelated. I was regailed with stories about him working with ‘Frosty’ (amongst others), the only price being the occasional blast of second hand smoke! Wish I’d asked him about writing for Morecambe and Wise. The second time was just after Ronnie Corbett had died. He was, understandably, less chatty that day (he also had to rush off immediately afterwards), but was still friendly and welcoming.

Having enjoyed him for so many years on ‘Clue it was nice that he turned out to be as friendly as his reputation has him.

I also had to deal with Barry Cryer through work once - after another comic's death - and he was absolutely smashing. Could have chatted with him for hours.

Every time I think of Lionel Blair I think of this sweary video he did for an ad agency about 10 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYLcYyvzfPw

I thought it was the case that Lionel didn’t mind them, but his wife objected.

Maybe. I looked him up in the excellent book 'The Clue Bible' and it doesn't say. However it does point out that Lionel did pop up on a running gag Kenny Everett's shows as someone with certain, er, tastes. He once appeared tied to a wall and enjoying being flogged. So he is able to take the mucky out of himself like that

One of the writers of those shows was Barry Cryer of course

I've never heard of this actress, but I enjoyed reading about her life.

See, it's not that hard.

I've a vague recollection of Dame June appearing in EastEnders at some point. Or am I completely off track here?

Two years ago as a nun who revealed Kat seemingly had another child as part of Kat's exit storyline.

Can't see a mention of it in this thread but it looks like an episode of Terry and June has been scheduled for 19:25 on BBC One today (20:30 in Scotland) as a tribute. Originally aired on 18th Dec 1981.

They've cut the news by 5 minutes to fit this into the schedule (in a 35 minute slot).

Seems a slightly odd scheduling decision, as it's replacing Celebrity Mastermind, which isn't a repeat.

I think that 8:30pm would have been a better slot for, replacing a repeat of Would I Lie To You, immediately before Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

I'd agree with you on that but it does seem that the 19:30 slot is the favored one when bringing out repeats as a tribute.

As for the extra 5 minutes, this episode is from 1981, did these shows run closer to the 30 min mark than later shows did (29 mins and a bit rather than 26-27 mins of later shows)? Maybe the BBC put it in a 35 min slot so they would have more trailer time?

I'd like to think it's because they've got a nice tribute before/after the showing but I suspect there was no time to arrange that, especially on NYE.

If they weren't able to put together a tribute programme, they could have shown an archive programme as a tribute, such as This is Your Life (in a 30 minute slot) or The Many Faces of June Whitfield (in a 1 hour slot).

They are showing that, on BBC2.
