The only other slots BBC Scotland could realistically show it in over the next few days would be 10:30pm this evening on BBC 2, 7:30pm on New Year's Eve on BBC 2, or 11pm on New Year's Day on BBC 1 or 2, as a replacement for other films currently scheduled.

I suspect 19:30hrs is a non starter, it's probably a post watershed item.

They are in a tricky position. If they do show it in the middle of the night, it looks bad, if they quietly drop it all together that looks bad too !

BBC Scotland will have it worse now that Dame June Whitfield has died. Tomorrow nights premiere on BBC One will now change into a tribute to her, and Scotland will be seen as uncaring and crass.

Yes, Hogmanay is special, and they have to lever it into their schedules, but sticking the Edinburgh Tattoo in at 7pm could easily be dumped, and they could show the "Gary Goes to Hollywood special there instead and free up the 10.00pm slot?

Barry Cryer still appears regularly as a panelist on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.
He's still very funny - hasn't stopped having a razor sharp wit.

Referencing I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue reminded me of Lionel Blair, who's also still going on. Humphrey Lyttleton used to deliver deadpan very risque comments about Lionel Blair - this one is absolutely hilarious:

"The grand mime-master of Give Us A Clue was Lionel Blair, but since the show ended, he's confined to the occasional pantomime appearance, and they say he's becoming difficult to work with due to his mood swings. In this year's Snow White, they said one minute Lionel could be feeling Happy, and the next he'd come all over Grumpy."

I remember the look on Una Stubbs' face when he tried to pull off 12 Angry Men in 90 seconds... Laughing

Where? unless there move to Thursday and then it's too late.

Thursday 10.50pm is the obvious slot - just repeats on network.

Glasgow will not dump Tattoo repeat, and nor will it dump Gary goes to Hollywood to an early time slot.

I see BBC One Scotland have really dumped the premiere of Ab Fab The Movie on New Year's Eve to 1.50am in New Year's Morning. Wow! BBC Scotland were allowed by the network to do that?

to help keep this off topic - its not a premiere its been on BBC One before.

Sure about that? Made in 2016 so about the right time for it to be shown on FTA TV. Radio Times has it listed as a premiere? Happy to be corrected!

I thought BBC Films can premiere earlier?

So a thread about the ITV refresh has become a discussion on the scheduling of a June Whitfield tribute on BBC One Scotland?

It would appear there is a thread for this and this isn’t it.

I agree.

The Lionel Blair jokes are still a regular feature of I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. Apparently Blair isn't a fan of them.

He was interviewed by Danny Baker the other week and he is still bright as a button and able to tap dance. He recently turned 90.

Yes, apparently so. Very much considered the guv'nor by comedians of all generations.

He missed a Clue recording in the last series due to a fall, also there were two in the previous series without Tim Brooke Taylor so along with Grahames health issues that's meant that 4 episodes from 2018 have been with only one regular on the panel. The episodes were actually very good, but not the same

What with that and Nicolas Parsons missing his first Just a Minute recording in 50 years there's presumably a bit of succession planning going on at BBC Radio Comedy

I'm not surprised, he's straight. These days the Lionel Blair jokes no longer imply his sexuality.

I thought it was the case that Lionel didn’t mind them, but his wife objected.
