She was one of those actresses who despite all the changes in comedy was still in demand (she even did a memorable performance with Julian Clary). Hers was a clean, gentle style of comedy which is why I think her career lasted for as long as it did. RIP
The provenance for the initial break on Twitter was at 6.21pm from an account appearing to be that of Comedy Producer Jon Plowman. At 8.32pm a member of June's extended family confirmed the news in a reply to the original Tweet. Care is needed in these circumstances, but the nature of tweets on the Plowman account led me to believe the truth of the content of the 6.21pm tweet fairly quickly.

Like Denis Norden she was a link back through the history of TV comedy, outliving all the greats she worked with. Just Nicolas Parsons of that generation left now I think, he'll keep going a while yet
