What's wrong with Matthew Amroliwala?

He's one of the best in my opinion - him and Jane are usually excellent.

he comes across on TV as a smug git. That is what is wrong with him.

Whats happened lately to Philippa Thomas? Shes not been on for ages, instead we've had Louise Minchin. If its a holiday, its a bloody long one. Cant understand the News 24 line up really - they've got presenters like Louise Minchin, Peter Dobbie, Liz Pike to name just a few who seemingly are on pretty regularly, almost every day, yet there not on the website. Is is cos there freelance or something, or that they are BBC staff but not very senior ones? I also cant understand why they've put Carrie Gracie, who once did the primetime slot on News 24, on very random late night shifts. Crazy. Weird random questions over. Thank you. Shocked

They're probably not listed on the site because they are seen as 'relief' presenters - they don't have a regular shift. It's a bit silly because, as you say, they're on almost every day! Don't think it's anything to do with being freelance, as quite a few are, but are on contracts. Some presenters are on staff though, I think.

LOL, they seriously need to get out of that miserable set they are in, it's dark, and has a hole in the middle with a fake LIVE gallery as the centre point!

That hole is called "the BBC news 24 dark room" where strange things had happened...... Cool Pale

I think she's on maternity leave, isn't she?

Back on the original topic, I saw Julian on this afternoon with Jane, and he did look good. He's a man who can turn his hand to almost anything. He's always excellent on Five Live, whether it's doing news programmes on the phone in. They really should make more use of him.

Phillipa has gone back to being 'special corr' she was only filling in till Louise finished her attachment to 5Live Drive. So your evening team are now Jon (who I personally think is brill - can turn his hand to anything) and Louise (who is, quite frankly, holding her own very well)!
I think that Dobbie should be given something earlier permanantly as he comes across as relaxed and professional and is able to have a laugh when needed to lighten the atmosphere....

Yes, Philipa (sp?) had a child not long ago ; then she became a presenter at bbc news 24 temporarily.

The fact of the matter is - as I have outlined thoroughly in other threads - is that until News 24 make very wide ranging changes to their presenter line-up, there will not be a huge difference in the quality of the channel.

They can introduce their bizarre sounding new studio concept, which again I would be surprised to see work effectively, but until the presenters really show a bit of character and charisma it's going to remain interminably dull.

Aww, c@t you're truely scared of the new look News 24 and how it will dent your beloved Sky News(wall). There there, all will be OK in november.
