It does have to be said there is little left to watch on ITV these days. They seem to have tired out to the nth degree all their decent progs.

I think ITV have got to realise there is only really room for one chat show at 5pm and begin seriously looking elsewhere for ideas for that slot (well, I guess they are with the soap).

Random thought - it all depends on getting the right host, but if ITV1 really want a daily chat show perhaps they'd be better off looking at the other end of the schedule and finding someone to host a late-night show at 11pm (or even solve their problems at 10pm)

I remember the days when Channel 5 first started and they had their nightly chat/entertainment show - was it Jack Dee's??? I could see something like that working on ITV at midnight (leaving the 11pm to midnight slot for US DRama's, Sport. Arts, etc....

at midnight? You're going to get big ratings at that time!

I think a big problem is the type of shows that would do well in daytime or late night on ITV are being used on their other channels.

Jack Doherty - where is he now. And of course Graham Norton had his 5 nights a week show on C4 for a couple of years before he left to not work for the BBC!

It could do well for its slot though - remember the percentage is just as important.

And now they have to consult Howling Mad Murdoch over major corporate decisions...it doesn't bear thinking about. Jordan and Peter could just be the tip of the iceberg.

I'm speechless!

Its once again as if the execs have gone "ooh look they were popular in I'm a Celebrity... lets give 'em a show..duh..." *smacks forehead like Harry Hill*

What annoys me is that ITV are hoping to grab the same chav-fested audience that read their inane daily boredam stories in the likes of Heat magazine etc. Bleeeeuuugh! Mad

It has disaster written all over it. For all the talent they have, they should be banned from live TV altogether.

I personally never saw the problem with the 5 o clock show. True it wouldn't beat Paul O'Grady up against him, but it was something different, they did have chat elements, yet others beside it, and by the end of the run the programme was beginning to pick up.

The only way that ITV can ever win the slot is to not aim a chat show at Paul O'Grady.

They should air a chat show when O'Grady's off the air, and air something completely different when he's on.
What is the question that they are paid a lot of money to answer.

I don't personally think that it will be Jordan & Peter.
Maybe they'd work on a new version of Mr & Mrs somehow, I don't know.

I like that 5 o clock show it was good,

maybe there should just give it up to the regionals, we might ( liek someone eles suggested ) have shortland street back, plus it would help out UTV

Yes, I thought it worked OK actually. At least they were making an attempt to do an intelligent, perhaps even educational, programme with RH's 5 o'clock show.

Would Peter Andre and Jordan's show be anything like that? They are hardly Stephen Fry and Carol Vorderman are they; I can see appealing solely to the Trisha Trash audience... junk TV at it's worse Pale !

I don't think R&J will have anything to worry about, even with their current pathological obsession with other over-rated Channel 4 programmes!

Surely they should be offering an alternative to what's on the other channels. O'Grady obviously has the chat show market for that time slot - but that's not to everybody's taste, so why don't they identify what it is and cater for that.

The "Bimbo & Has-Been" show won't appeal to many. Just the thought of it would stop me even giving it a go! Embarassed
