Expect in scotland!!!

Yep, still scheduled in at the moment. I see the lottery has been brought forward to 10.35 - was initially on after Speed. Apart from on NI who are still showing it at 12.25.

NI also don't seem to be showing HIGNFY at all on Friday - don't they normally put it on after Wossy?

#
here is from scotland:

10.35pm Dear Green place ( Scottish thing)
11.05pm HIGNFY
11.35pm lotto

11.40 - 12.40 which is missing an hour to fill:

12.40 Celebrity scissorhand
1.40am Halloween 2

I do believe it will NOT be shown in scotland!

Russell Brand was due to be on Never Mind the Buzzcocks tonight but looks like another episode (I assume a new one) has taken its place with different guests according to the EPG.

Wrong - Speed is going out on BBC1 Scotland, at 11.40, with Halloween 2 following it. Celebrity Scissorhand has been dropped.

These were *pre-recorded* calls. A producer has taken the decision to broadcast them. If anybody should be suspended or falling on their sword, it's the producer who decided that the material was suitable for broadcast rather than the talent, who likely would have behaved entirely differently on a live programme.

Indeed, the job of a producer is to be responsible for the output and that involves reigning in the 'talent'.

The slight complication in this case is that it was made by a company owned by Russell Brand so the programme producer was employed by the 'talent'. However that does also mean that he's effectively been fired as the programme's not being produced any more.

Because it was an indie production the responsibility does lie partially on whoever it is at Radio 2 who oversees the programme.

An interesting article about how the BBC vets programmes here:

To be honest I think Russ took a bullet for Rossy. I love how dignified and well throughout that video is.

As I said to my mother around 4pm yesterday if it was Russell Brand on his own he'd have got the sack no question, the fact he was with Jonathan Ross, a more important name to the BBC, means they can't really sack one without the other.

The point is, the only people who had a right to complain are those who heard the original broadcast, Mr Sachs and his family themselves.

I agree, this media circus is a complete farce, I wouldn't mind if the majority of those complaints were from listners on the day, but they only got 2.

The Daily Heil is making a big deal out of, as usual.

Russell Brand came across genuine yesterday & nic eto see he wasn't making a big joke about it, anymore.

I doubt it'd have happened at all. The conversation was going in Brand's usual style when Ross suddenyl said what he said, and it all went downhill. They were egging each other on to phone up again and again.

I think rather than cancel Ross' show due for broadcast on friday night, they should've replaced him witha 'guest host' in the same way they did for HIGNFY.

I've made no secret of my dislike for Brand & Ross and their alleged 'humour', but I'm sure there is a place for a chat show on BBC One on Friday evenings. I just hope that they take the opportunity to find a new host for such a programme; one that doesn't cost as much would be an added bonus, of course.

Such a non-story really. Yes, it was infantile, offensive and wrong - but it's not a big political scandal, and it's not really out of character. Russell Brand has got into trouble several times for making calls (often to the police) during his live shows.

And as much as I hate that, and hate Jonathan Ross too, the 30,000+ complaints should absolutely be disregarded and only the two initial complaints made in the week after the broadcast be considered valid.

The Mail are also scum for using this non-story for their own purposes - and they're the ones who actually caused Sachs himself the offense - by making sure he'd heard what was said.

Well there were only 2 complaints after the broadcast. It wasn't until the mail piped up a whole week later that the mock outrage kicked in and the bandwagon started rolling. Coincidence?

Most people hadn't heard it. When they did they complained. Logical?

Didn't you find the "He f*cked your granddaughter" comment offensive?

I never said it wasn't. Rolling Eyes

I agree it was out of order but they've apologized, Andrew Sachs has accepted and the Satanic Slut has got the 15 minutes of fame she desperately wanted. In an ideal world they'd be given a slap on the wrist, whoever let the call go out would be sacked and that would be it. We live in Britain though and The Daily Mail won't let it go until someone is dead. Rolling Eyes

So Jonathan Ross is suspended for 12 weeks. (BBC News are reporting)
