For me the actions of Ross and Brand in actually thinking that making the phone calls at all was acceptable was a major error, and not at all what the BBC should be doing. They crossed the line when they made the calls.

Wasn't he supposed to be a guest though? If he had answered his phone as planned then it wouldn't have happened in the first place.

According to Sach's agent on Monday he was due to be a studio guest, but was unable to attend for personal reasons. He wasn't supposed to be doing a phone interview.

I'm not too fussed over Brand resigning as I don't watch or listen to much of his shows, but now Wossy sacks (no pun intended) off the comedy awards? I've always loved the ceremony, so I hate to think what presenter will kill it.

The Daily Heil have now got power happy after their so-called victory. They seem to be trying to get every single programme that isn't aimed at their readership taken off the air.

They are pathetic excuses for journalists - and the country would be better off without them. It's nothing short of bullying - basically picking on someone for one small mistake and trying to make them feel much worse for it than they actually should. And I hope Brand and Ross find a way to sue them for loss of earnings.

As for Mock the Week - **** ridiculous!

Can't say I find any of those examples as offensive as the bigoted opinions of Richard Littlejohn which the Daily Mail is happy to publish.

Well exactly. Funny how they didn't have a problem with it when it was originally broadcast 18 months ago.

On what grounds do you think they could sue the Mail for loss of earnings? Were they working Ross with strings?

You're beginning to sound as reactionary as the Mail, Brekkie. Its a loathsome paper for sure, but if you give them the story they will run and run with it - and now all the other titles and media outlets are running with it too.

This keeps coming back to the same thing - that pre-recorded segment should never have gone to air.

They made a rod for their own backs as far as I can see.

In other news, all traces of the woeful BBC Three comedy Coming of Age have mysteriously vanished from iPlayer, whilst last night's scheduled repeat was replaced by an episode of The Real Hustle. Tonight's repeat has also been scrapped (replaced by Two Pints) although a new episode is still scheduled for next Tuesday.

Given the programme's content (schoolboy sex jokes galore), is it a case of quietly sweeping it under the rug (for this week at least) before The Mail, et al kick up a fuss and demand its immediate cancellation? Or is it a genuine iPlayer fault/coincidental TV schedule change?

We'll be back to stuffy old blokes in dinner jackets if the Daily Mail get their way.

The irony of the whole thing is the show that mades Sachs name could be pretty damn offensive when it wanted to be too.

The Daily Heil never cease to amaze me with their stuffy "send the buggers back" attitude. What gets me with them is they want the licence fee scrapped but what's the alternative.... ITV, do they REALLY want the BBC to go down that road Rolling Eyes

Two questions. Even though Russell Brand is a comedian, was the show on Radio 2 even supposed to be a comedy show at all?

Secondly, I wonder if this sort of dross would pass for 'comedy' in countries like France, America, Canada, etc? We seem to be the only country in the world where a lot of people think telling a 78 year old man you slept with (nay, effed) his daughter is funny
