No wonder the window-lickers in Metropol are in awe of you ...

Surely that's offensive to Metropollers who are also TVF members?

Shouldn't you instantly withdraw your membership of TVF, Mr Guru, unless of course you are saying that different rules apply to different situations and different forms of media?

Disapointed Jeremy Clarkson has apologised - who do I complain too?

The irony though it's not the Scots or those blind in one eye who seem most offended - it's the idiots that are kicking up a fuss!

Surely that's the end of the matter. Whilst the 'one-eyed' comment could be considered insensitive, it wasn't offensive since the PM had often referred to his loss of sight in one eye. 'Idiot' is simply an opinion, unless that's creeped into the handbook of unmentionable words.

'Number 10' apparently didn't take offence, and referred to it as an opinion, which of course we are all allowed to have. Since Clarkson isn't employed as a political commentator I don't see an issue here.

Had Political Editor Nick Robinson or the likes of Reeta Chakrabarti made a similar comment then there could be justifiable accusations of prejudice. They didn't, and probably never would!

Carol Thatcher made other offensive remarks in 'golliwog' incident
Carol Thatcher made multiple references describing a French mixed-race tennis player as a "golliwog", "half-golliwog" and "golliwog Frog", sources say.

Thatcher, dropped from the BBC One Show after the programme said she refused to adequately apologise for her comments in the programme green room, made multiple remarks in front of 12 people, including presenter Adrian Chiles, comedian Jo Brand and a representative from the Comic Relief charity.

Today, One Show insiders confirmed a story in The Times that reported that Thatcher had made variations on her comment several times in the green room.

...if reports from insiders are true I think it suggests it wasn't just a single slip of the tongue. With a representative from Comic Relief present I suspect it would have made things more awkward for the producers (and the BBC) if nothing had been done.

Also no surprise...

Sources have said Thatcher is considering selling her side of the story to the Mail on Sunday this weekend.

Well that will please Showbizguru no end. He won't believe a thing until he hears it from the well paid horses-mouth, I'm told.

The problem is Carol associated the term "golliwog" with a black person - I'm sure if she was just talking about the fact she used to collect "golliwog" tokens, nobody would have said anything.

Isn't that obvious though?

You can be served faggots in rum sauce in a restaurant, but if you use it to describe the waiters, then that's quite different, surely?

I don't think this is a case of the "thought police", or some other reactionary nonsense.

Its about putting yourself in someone else's shoes - if you were black, wouldn't you find it offensive to be described as some grotesque illustration from a bygone time?

Yeah, well thats basically what I'm getting at.

Lets not forget "golliwogs" are nowadays just souvenir dolls at the end of the day. I just think of the more broader spectrum that we seem to find almost everything offensive nowadays and I wonder how far politcal correctness will go that's all.

That poor snowman will never recover from being compared to Professor Robert Winston.

Incidently, The One Show got it's highest ever ratings last night, breaking 6m. Coincidence?

I find the Jeremy Clarkson latest outburst hilarious.

Disclaimer: Anyone who wishes to disagree with me please contact me by my email address as the easy method. Of course, if you prefer, you can send me a letter of complaint or you can get hold of my boss at my place of work. If you still feel you haven't disagreed with me enough.. you can contact the worms in my garden who will in turn build a booby trap out of soil in the hope that I stumble and fall flat on my backside into the snow which I have been struggling to clear outside my front door for many days now. If you are still not satisfied with my disagreement...well.... erm... kill me..i guess.
