At the moment I think that Graham Norton's show is the highest rating of the late-evening chat shows.

The most watched celeb interview show in the UK, believe it or not, is currently The One Show... (Not exactly a pure chat show - and the chats are quite short, and the audience watch as much for the pre-recorded inserts as the studio content I imagine)

Not sure what more he can do with the show - the set has already been redesigned once.

I'm surprised the show hasn't been axed - no sign of his film show on ITV though.

I think it's a good show that's produced well, the guests are always the important thing.
The format including the green room worked well on the BBC, Maybe he should've gone a different route for ITV.
I used to enjoy the Parkinson route of get your first guest who then remains on set with the next guest/s joining them.

Badly though! The two sets haven't really been great, but the purple and yellow one is garish and horrible!! I feel like maybe they need to make it lighter, and perhaps bring the audience into it more!

That's kind of Paul O'Grady style! Really not a fan! I think that he either needs to do something similar to current format or maybe bring something totally different in! Maybe they're going to totally reinvent it and make it something thats not really been tried before!?!? That would be interesting!

I absolutely HATE Graham Norton's format. I often watch chat shows for one or two guests, so when Norton has a big A-lister I have no interest in, and a comedian I like is stuck at the end saying nothing, it's a lot more of a pain to watch. I'd rather do what I do with Chatty Man and record it, then fast forward to the guests I want to watch.

I remember when Ant and Dec were on the show, and they got the prestigious place on the sofa nearest to Graham. But most of the show was spent talking to the guy from Breaking Bad. The Graham Norton Show seems too focused on getting big names than actually getting guests who are fun to watch. Look at when Madonna was on...

It's a shame because I loved Graham's Channel 4 shows, and I like him as a person. But the format of the show is annoying.

It's a great format for a chat show and has produced some fantastic combinations of guests and moments. Where else would Lady Gaga appear with June Brown or Miriam Margoyles with Will.I.am?

It doesn't matter if there's a guest on the sofa that you don't care about, they normally get the mix of different guests right so there's a good range. That said some of the recent episodes where all the guests have been from the same film haven't been very good

Personally find that the Graham Norton show can either be fantastic or cringeworthingly awful! It can become a kiss-ass programme, where someone like Cameron Diaz boasts about the amazingness of someone else whose not nearly as big as she it- which is so dull and boring!! But sometimes the group can be fabulous, and the guests have fantastic banter and it works really well!

I wonder if there's an appetite for a nightly late night talk show like in the USA?

Channel 4 already tried it with Norton.

That didn't do too badly to be fair, especially in the summer paired with Big Brother. I've long said ITV should try something Mon-Thu 10.35pm - and Jonathan Ross is the obvious choice for that. 40-45 minutes would be long enough and it only needs to run for 6-8 week bursts at a time, but I don't think guests would be too much of a problem.

P.S. Re Paul O'Grady - he probably doesn't get the credit he deserves as an interviewer but watching him with Robert Webb earlier he really is a master of the craft - far better than Ross and Norton.

I enjoy the daily late night talk shows in America, particularly The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, so i'm all for having a late night daily talk show in the UK. But i really don't think Jonathan Ross is the guy to do it. For a daily show to work, you really want to tune in to watch the person presenting it almost if not more than the guests, and I just don't like Jonathan Ross' TV personality. Funnily enough in real life he's quite interesting, especially with his comic book stuff. But on TV there's only so much i can take of him.

Choosing a host for such a show is quite difficult. As we've seen in the U.S it's a hard job to do and get right, especially to the point where people will tune in every day for you. I actually can't think of someone off the top of my head who could do it in the UK. Maybe *shock horror* do what they did with Conan O'Brian and find somebody totally new. Imagine that....taking a risk!

Perhaps Adam Hills, Jason Manford, Russell Howard, Jimmy Carr?

Bring out all of the guests at the same time. It works for Graham Norton.
