Star of 3's company John Ritter has died aged 54. More recently he has starred in 8 Simple Rules (for dating my teenage daughter) the great comedy currently airing on the Disney Channel here in the UK and ABC in america.

I am truly shocked by this I am a massive fan of 8 simple rules and his work. For the full story

It's turning out to be a very sad today. I learned earlier today that 10 this morning that music legend Jonny Cash has also died. Especially poigniant as some may remember Justin Trousersnake dedicating an award of his to Cash a few weeks ago.

Sorry, never heard of him, 3's company, or 8 Simple Rules. Confused

On the other hand, Johnny Cash is a huge loss. Never really listened to his stuff until Mark & Lard played his Hurt single (cover of a NIN single) which was amazing. Crying or Very sad

Three's Company was the American version of Man About The House. Think they used to show it here as eighties night time filler?

He also starred in Stephen King's "It".

ISTR that John Ritter also played the lead in a US series "Hooperman", as well as popping up in numerous TV movies.

He was a brilliant actor but his talent was mostly wasted, just like the great Christopher Walken.

Indeed ... more information about his life and roles is here.

The one thing I remember about Johnny Cash is that on his Folsom Prison concert CD, he said one thing between songs that I always love to repeat: How's that grab ya, Bob?

A very sad beginning to the day.

Breaking news apparently on digital spy! ABC is to continue to produce 8 simple rules following the death of lead star John Ritter last week. 3 episodes containing Ritter were recorded with the last being finished shortly before he collapsed.

The series will now focus on the family getting over the loss of their father, and getting themselves back on track.

digital spy article found here

Im not sure how the series will follow on. Its a comedy series and I cant see how they will do it as Ritter played Paul Hennessey, the main character if you think about it. The series title is '8 simple rules... for dating my teenage daughter', and the whole series followed how paul tried to control his daughters lives and got into situations. I am glad that they are carrying it on, but am worried that it may lose its humour, as with the passing of John Ritter, it may have already been lost.
