Was in the states when it started, first episode wasn't great but it grows on you. Not a patch on Friends

It's going to neither C4 or Sky. C5 have bought it, and paid a vast sum for it too.

I heard that. Shame that it couldn't live up to Friends. Five are probably devastated that they shelled out all that money for it.

By all accounts, it's slipping down the ratings charts in the US week by week.
It seems unlikely to receive a second season, and may not even make it to the end of this one.
Bit of a cock-up on Five's part.

The show's not amazing, but I've watched all of the episodes so far and it really does grow on you. I'm now pretty much addicted to it.
It's not just Joey that's slipping in the ratings. The OC, which also airs on Thursday night in the US, has been slipping week by week. It's not been a good couple of years for US Dramas and Comedies.

Missed the first episode on Monday night thanks to recorder foul up, but friends who watched it said it wasn't great.
Thanks to UK rights being held by Five, RTE really do have it exclusively over here (despite having access to just about every UK terrestrial and satellite channel under the sun here, you can't get Five - or ITV2 for that matter - for love nor money, unless you can pick it up terrestrially). So I guess I'm just going to have to wait for when (or if) RTE repeat it.

Well, the theme tune's just someone saying California in the wrong emphasis over and over again so no wonder.

I haven't seen it, but lets not forget that the best shows can be awful in their first season. They've just got to find their legs.
That's the problem with Commerical television, brilliant shows might never have the chance to grow into a ratings winner just because the asshole networks don't want to take the risk that it might turn into a great show.

Maybe, but the first season of Friends was fantastic, very rare for any sitcom, I wonder if NBC will go for a second series, American Crtics believe that it will be a one season comedy, even though the show is bringing in more famous guest stars.
