Jim Delahunt quits Scotsport

The Herald is reporting that Jim Delahunt has quit Scotsport for rival Setanta. (Click)

I always liked Jim and it's a shame to see him go. I wonder who'll take over (temporarily and permanently).

How many staff have quit now?

If that is true, then I think Archie Macpherson would possibly fill in for the moment.
I really hope this is untrue, but I think it is.
Maybe even Raman Bhardwaj could replace him for now...NO!!!

My namesake and former Scotland Today Sportcaster Jane Lewis would be ideal for the job! As far as I know, she's not found any work as yet - so this would be the perfect opportunity and time for her to take the helm. In addition, Jane has previous experience of presenting Scotsport and it's other variations. To be quite frank, she suits it! I've always thought that Jim and Jane had similar presenting styles.

What does everyone else think - who else could do the same job as good as Jim?

Sorry to burst your bubble JLF, but I doubt that will EVER happen. She has already left stv. I don't think she would go back...

Oh my God - if anyone saw Derek Johnstone's attempt at presenting Football First some years back, they'd realise this would be suicide. He's the only person that made John Barnes look competent. He's ok on Radio Clyde but his TV presenting leaves a lot to be desired.

Mind you, it's quite scary looking at that list - it shows the sheer lack of sports presenting talent available in Scottish broadcasting right now when there isn't a clear star ready to take this over.

Ah well. I'll bet you there's a few people at SMG who reckon their current Scotsport presenter is a complete Delahunt...

Incidentally, did he have to hand in a month's notice or is he outta there instantly. If so, they're screwed. It's hard to see a natural successor coming out instantly. I wouldn't be surprised if the infinitely smug and horrific Graham Speirs is put in charge, which would be the death of the programme as he has no common touch with the ordinary punter, and just gives the impression that this reporting on football is an unwelcome distraction from dinner parties and hanging about posh restaurants eating caviar.

Given the current uncertainty over UTV's sudden interest, plus everything else that's gone wrong, would the last person to leave STV please turn out the lights (of the all new purpose-built broom cupboard in the BBC studios)?
