Did he ever do any other game show? I guess most the legends of that era were only really known for one.

I had a feeling they would show Bullseye all day at the weekend.

I was only watching classic clips of Bullseye on YouTube last night.

The one where they win a fashion spree
The one where one set of players goes home with £0
The one where the non dart player wins in 2 throws
The one where they win all the prizes, gamble and then lose

Notable for how Jim used to man handle the contestants to see what they've either won or would have won, and the way in the early days he'd mention that the contestants have 'come all the way from TVS'

What was the show he appeared on that spawned the infamous clip of Bobby Davro falling face first to the floor while he was shackled up in stocks?

He was super, he was smashing, and he was great. (Of course, he insisted he never said all three of those words at once.)

Rather suddenly - given that it's still only seven months since Brucie left us, and six since WGS went away - there aren't all that many legendary game show hosts left from the pre-Millionaire era. Sad Parsons, Bamber, Roy Walker, Gordon Burns, Barrymore (regardless of everything), Les Dennis...

I have a hazy recollection he did a short lived regional quiz for Central.

UKGameShows suggests it was a show called Home Run which only ever aired in the Central region. Apparently involved a map that featured the Central transmission area and from the description suggests it was a variation on something like Risk.

Bowen appeared in a few sitcoms (sometimes as himself, sometimes as another character) primarily as one off shots and also appearances on other shows both as a guest and a talking head. Followed by a move to radio, the odd bit of stand-up and an appearance on the Gameshow Marathon in 2007 (not for Bullseye but for The Golden Shot).

Here he is alongside Paul Daniels and Su Pollard in a Kellogg's ad from 1999:

Yes, the appalling and short-lived BBC1 hidden camera series in 1992, which was immediately axed. That was supposed to be the grand end-of-season prank which rather obviously never went out in full on air.

Delyth Lloyd, the BBC Sport reporter, used to be my sister's flatmate, and her first job at the Beeb was as one of Jim's helpers at Radio Lancashire. Apparently he used to like being pushed around the studio on his swivel chair.
