what

It’s based off one tweet from a family member that isn’t even close to hinting. Honestly. You give the tabloids an inch and they’ll take ten miles (with random tweets added for good measure.)

As made clear in the cancellation statement, the investigation is still ongoing. ITV axed the show due to "the gravity of recent events" which is PR speak for "the sh*t hitting the fan".

Or as an excuse to get rid of it as it doesn't really 'fit' the rather bland ITV daytime schedules anymore?

Yeah but if you're a big boss at itv and you don't particularly like JK this is a good time to say "bye, bye".

I have seen it done in radio, have a award winning breakfast show but the new PC doesn't like them so it gets axed.

They have good taste

Judging by some of the tabloid front pages today and yesterday it seems they're missing the Jeremy Kyle show, a week / few days after heavily criticising it. I'm guessing those newspaper editors had been getting column inches and website articles out of those who appeared on the programme, which they can't generate from episodes of Dickinson's Real Deal (unless you count the time one of the dealers was jailed on an unrelated matter). The past two days there have been bits from celebs (e.g. Biggins and Clarkson) criticising ITV axing the show on the front pages (from looking on the BBC News papers blog).

There's a Dispatches expose on Channel 4 tonight. Allegations include that Kyle staff would smoke cannabis and drink with guests in hotel rooms on the night before their tv appearance.

Yeah I gave that a watch. Interesting allegations coming out. Didn't paint a good picture for Love Island either.

Out of curiosity; do they need permission from ITV to show clips of the show and how are the obtained? Or is there a pool of clips that they can use?

Surely if they needed to get permission from ITV, there wouldn't have been any clips, as you can't see ITV seeing "yes, here you go, have all this content for your expose on our recently axed programme".

It looked like most of the clips were taken from YouTube (I'm guessing before the official JK You Tube page was pulled).

That's why I'm asking how they got the clips...

You asked whether Channel 4 would have needed permission from ITV to use clips of The Jeremy Kyle Show. I simply responded that I doubt ITV would have given this permission, given the nature of the programme the clips would be featured in, so I'd say the (three) eye rolling emoticons are rather unnecessary.
