I don’t think Rinder does all that well as it is (I think I saw it rates less than Kyle)
Comparing afternoon ratings with morning ratings is hardly like for like though.
Why? Isn’t daytime just daytime. When most people are in work so they put any old tripe on?

Wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a hastily put together replacement with a new presenter in the same (but relit) set, with a lighter / less confrontational / more tongue in cheek tone.

The generally accepted (allegedly) view of daytime TV is to make it so mind numbingly tedious that going to work would be seen as far more preferable, both to the individual, the wallet and presumably the state.
But anyway the situation has shown how ITV has once again made itself dependent on the same programme in the same slot for many years in a row. Take that programme away and ratings wise, ITV is stuffed. Perhaps in hindsight they should really have a rotation of stuff for situations such as this without having to parachute something entirely random in at a moment's notice. Maybe Tenable, Tipping Point or the universally popular The Chase could have kept more than 43% of the Kyle audience. But decision is made so...

I'd say the genre is done for now. It could be reinvented in time but for now they won't want comparisons.

I agree, we’ve been going that way for quite a while now, like for example how you don’t really get acts just to laugh at anymore on The X Factor compared to back in the day as it’s no longer the done thing. All the newer talent shows are almost entirely positive.
As Amol Rajan said, I bet the replacement won’t rate as well, and that’s despite people apparently being repelled by JK over these years. Surely the ratings should go up?

Anyone else think they're eventually just going to give the slot to Piers Morgan? He often complains about how the early starts on GMB are "killing" him.
A bit of variety is needed though. As others have said alll ITV's live daytime shows are starting to blend into one. GMB, This Morning, and Loose Women all now seem to have a very similar clickbait feel about them. This Morning last week had a debate titled "SHOULD SANDWICHES BE POLITICALLY CORRECT?"

You’re actually quoting the Daily Star?
If it said tomorrow was Wednesday, I’d doubt the accuracy!

Just pointing out something ITV might try and cling to - lack of family blaming them (Reduces the chances of a lawsuit.) The show itself is dead consdering it has lost all the other newspapers - poitlical support and advertisers.

Tomorrow's front page: Theresa May last night said she was "deeply concerned" at the apparent suicide of a guest from The Jeremy Kyle Show. https://t.co/chO83yCf9I pic.twitter.com/izNSUn1s2J
