Maybe potentially possibly a long shot, but perhaps an opportunity for Channel 5 to relaunch Fifth Gear if Clarkson does get sacked. As for Top Gear itself, there's always the international versions for BBC Worldwide to make money from if they do axe the UK version.
Last case scenarios I know ... it'll probably all blow over in the next few months!
It's the sad thing about the media today - one person makes a silly mistake once and the media are out at every opportunity to get them whenever they make a mistake in the future. It's disgraceful behaviour, but heck what do you expect from the British press.
I'm no tremendous fan of the media in general, and I agree with what you say, but Inverdale seems to have simultaneously invented a brand new phrase, and slipped it out in a broadcast.
Have you ever heard anyone use that expression before ?
I'm inclined to use it now, (though not in mixed company of course )
Another thing - it seems odd that the BBC News haven't edited their main article about this story since 17:44 this evening, which makes you wonder if there is some sort of restriction placed on them - it still has the somewhat out-of-context quote of the tweet from Jeremy regarding a new presenter for the show.
There have been a few more associated articles though, reminding us of Jeremy's various silly comments of the past, and media commentators speculating on very little information.

I'm surprised they haven't dug this clip out to use in their packages...

Well apart from the jokey tweets between the 3 presenters, is there anything new to report? The BBC released a statement and said there'd be no further ones
I notice the clips of Top Gear had been taken from the Iplayer, rather than sourcing actual footage, even on the BBC about their own programme.
The tabloids are always the same, when an incident occurs, they then reel off all previous incidents again. Used to happen to Chris Moyles all the time as well.

Isn't Fifth Gear still being made and now shown on The History Channel or Discovery?

Chances are that BBC News were fair dealing the clips - so sourcing them from anywhere but the broadcast master (which may require the Execs' clearance to be released).
Though there is an off-air quality source of all BBC material broadcast since 2007 that can be used, though it takes more processing than clipping a quick screen record of iPlayer... (bbcredux)
He may well joke about it, but that's what's happened, the BBC distorting the news agenda, with one of their 'own' internal issues. Not sure whether it dispels or reinforces the view (by some) that the Beeb have a 'left leaning' bias !
