They need to treat their programmes and commissions with a bit more respect. Didn't anybody at the Beeb or Red Bee ask themselves why Top Gear chose to have silent credits ?

Because it's main star punched the producer in the face. That's respect.

Yes, we know... yes - he hit somebody, which isn't very nice, but it doesn't warrant the massive knock-on effect we've witnessed. Better to suspend him, maybe even give him a fine (is that doable?) and then let him back in six months to a year.

And before anyone says "yeah, but..." look at what a c*ck-womble the likes of Hugh Grant can be... they're still making films.

Dear oh dear, well there's a well reasoned argument for ECPs Rolling Eyes

Have a go at punching one of your colleagues then. You'll almost certainly find yourself out of a job as a result.

God, you can't even punch one of your colleagues in the face without people jumping on you these days - political correctness gone mad.

On that premis the BBC has a duty to all its staff (its in the contract) including Clarkson who, we discover, was worried about a cancer scare & was also under huge pressure to complete filming for a run of 10 episodes.

Mr Cohen and/or his staff allegedly leaked to the Mail calling him worse than Saville. Since the allegation has been made in a news magazine the least that should happen is an investigation in the public interest. If a senior manager on a public salary of £320,000 is briefing against the corporation, its staff and its DG then its a serious matter.

He had all sorts of excuses for his behaviour - this weekend he played the bullied at school card.

In context the Saville comment was absolutely correct. It's about the BBC not turning a blind eye to the behaviour of one of their biggest stars and ensuring they conform to the same standards of behaviour as all their employees, even if it is detrimental to a show or a corporation.

I've never liked Cohen, but to compare Clarkson to Savile is out of order - especially when Savile's crimes are still, ultimately, merely allegations.

Eitherway, I think the less said about Savile's nefarious activities, alleged or otherwise, the better.

I am nowhere near Clarkson's league. I'm not saying he's allowed to do it because he's talented, but talented people are generally a bit off-the wall and need managing in a certain way. That hasn't happened here.
