The problem is since he's on a 'final warning', having a bit of a spat or an argument may have caused more of a problem than would normally be expected. We'll just have to wait and see what this is actually about I guess.
I have to say I think people are generally harsher on Clarkson because he can be something of an acquired taste. He's certainly been foolish in a number of ways, but a lot has been blown out of proportion and I am certain he is not a racist or genuinely offensive person.
People are allowed to have spats and arguments, it just needs sorting out - not all this fuss.

I thought he was on a final warning about saying anything that could bring the BBC into disrepute on film / in public. Having an argument with a colleague (while still a disciplinary issue) is a different matter IMHO.

The BBC Statement :
Following a fracas with a BBC producer, Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC will be making no further comment at this time.

Just remember that someone has been suspended and investigation is pending - innocent until proven guilty and all that,
what's to say that the producer hasn't been suspended either?

Well the BBC statement said that 'no-one else has been suspended'
But you are correct in that everyone's jumping the gun a bit. Yes he's supposedly on a 'final warning' but the fact there's going to be an investigation doesn't mean that he's automatically guilty and out the door

I would agree, but for all we know he was suspended to prevent a risk of that happening, for example. As others have said it's hard to tell without knowing what this is about, so we will have to wait and see - I think Clarkson will say something soon enough if the BBC don't.

This gives the BBC enormous headaches, not least the point in the electoral cycle and the inevitable political comments this will generate, not withstanding in addition today's report that the long-term savings needed under DQF aren't materialising.
Frankly a quick resolution resulting in Clarkson's departure might administratively be more than convenient, albeit for his vocal apologists elsewhere in the media who'll cry foul.

He has got to be sacked after this.
Top Gear would at least last 2 more seasons without him, that's it. Give the other 2 a chance, then place them in documentaries...

depending on the outcome of the investigation of course

OF this could have been blown out of the water... to drum up the press. It was even on the ITN NEWS.
