How comes a tribunal , and a law suit...
I'd love to see how you would sue an unnamed person.
I wonder if they are real! Why not just name them, I wonder?
The BBC's enemies have built up hate over time, now they seem to really be going for broke there's no stopping them.
Then you could still sue the newspaper for slander and lies...
Read the bloody article, its the exact opposite of slander.

Can the paper actually prove someone said that?

I think Ken is regarded as a very safe pair of hands, and being based at BBC Scotland he is at arms length from pretty much everyone involved. Top Gear is a London based show made by BBC Television, and Ken is separate from that.

Just out of curiosity, why has Ken MacQuarrie from BBC Scotland been given the unenviable task of leading the investigation? Is BBC Scotland meant to be a neutral playing field or something?

Going on about the fact that Jeremy Clarkson is not a BBC employee, but a contractor, I should point out something from the bus industry. Outside London, bus services are deregulated, and there is competition, but some routes are subsidised by local authorities, and thus go out to tender. If the operator providing the tendered service gives bad performance, then they, the contractor, lose the work. It happened recently with the now defunct Western greyhound bus firm in Cornwall on a route.
So what I'm saying is, as JC is a contractor, not an employee, he could still lose the work, i.e. have his contract with the BBC terminated.
Also worth mentioning, until anything is probed, JC is innocent until proven guilty.

Or simply not renewed, I read somewhere this week, his present contract, along with with May's and Hammond's are all due to terminate at the end of this month anyway.

Clarkson to present Have I Got News For You in May (third episode of the new series):

Quote:
Jimmy Mulville, the head of independent producers Hat Trick, revealed that he is due to meet the BBC to work out whether Clarkson's suspension from Top Gear precludes him from fronting the show alongside team captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton.
“As far as I’m concerned he is hosting Have I Got News for You, the BBC has not told me what to do yet and it will be an interesting conversation,” said Mulville at a Broadcasting Press Guild breakfast today [Tuesday]. “He is due to present the third episode which I think is in early May.”
He joked: “Maybe we will get the producer on so he can hit Jeremy Clarkson live on television."

And a lot of other people! Everyone being blamed but the manchild by a good chunk of the public (mind you maybe they just tend to also be the ones to shout loudest)
Ridiculous how lightly this situation is being treated. Seems Clarkson is bigger than the BBC.

This seems to be being reported (or at least headlined) in quite a different way to what the quotes actually state. The story is simply that there is a longstanding booking for Clarkson to present HIGNFY in about 6 weeks and the producers haven't yet been told whether or not that can go ahead.
Presumably because this is six weeks away and the investigation may have been concluded by then - it certainly doesn't seem like the kind of situation that would take too long to look into.

If Clarkson still wants to do HIGNFY then he absolutely should be allowed to. Why should he be banned from the whole of the BBC. It'd show the BBC isn't run like a fascist organisation. And I'm sure Hat Trick the producers will be only too happy for him to do it.

The precedent I guess being a certain Jonathan Ross, who was suspended from all BBC work in the aftermath of the Sachs affair despite the incident in question taking place on a show where he was merely a guest.
This is much more serious issue in that it's an HR issue rather than merely a broadcasting compliance issue.
