My sadness is genuine. Why you think people are wallowing in false sadness I don't know. There's nothing in this thread that even suggests it.
I agree. I don't understand, I really don't.
If I didn't like someone I either wouldn't post in that thread or I would at least try and post a side comment on their good sides. Beadle may have been a horrid man, I don't know that obviously but I mourn his passing on the fact that to me he entertained me and many others as a child and it is on that which I express my sadness.

RIP. At least he can be with Madge now.
What?! The Queen's dead?

Likewise Gavin. Debate about a debate.. not for the first time, or the last I expect.
Quite an interesting write up of a meeting with Beadle at TV Cream

(not sure if the link has previously been given, I couldn't see it)

If find it hard to believe that this type of thread hasn't been banned from TVForum after 6 years. Many, many people have died during those six years.

Apologies for dipping back into the thread but it seems, like I've mentioned before, that really this is more to do with those who liked him and don't take kindly to those who don't want to agree he was a good man and that he will be sorely missed. Doesn't mean those who said bad against him irregardless of the severity of what was said shouldn't be allowed to comment, does it?
I mean, so he's dead, does that mean all his past transgressions are suddenly erased? No, I would have said (and felt) the same when he was alive and just because he's dead doesn't somehow make him a glorious entertainer who wasn't a complete prat in general. I keep seeing my first post quoted several times and yes, whilst it wasn't very nice it was still honest and I care not for decorum most times.
Death does not strip someone of their human flaws leaving only their good parts to be magnified and put up on show nor does it imply respect to be given, the quicker people realise not all death is all bad, the better. First one to want my death gets a cookie.

What's with the fruit on the table?
Does he have high cholesterol?
I think there ought to be a thread about him now, just in case he dies and it turns out he was a bit of a monster.

Do you think he'll jump out the coffin at the last moment and say "you should have seen the look on your face?"
That would be very Beadle-esque.
