I hear that his last words were "Beam me up, God"!

On this point, not only was the 'infamous' line 'Beam me up Scotty' NEVER said in the series or the movies, but why on earth is it attributed as being HIS catchphrase? Think about it, why would Scotty EVER say 'Beam me up, Scotty'?

Or as The Simpsons had it,

I wonder if they'll shoot his ashes into space. Or perhaps take them on the NASA rocket. Has that taken off yet? Wouldn't it be great if they let them do that?
That would be great, kinda like what they did with Gene!

well, we spoke to soon didn't we!

Scotty's ashes space-bound
Thursday, July 21 2005, 15:01 BST -- by Daniel Saney

The ashes of the late James Doohan, Star Trek's 'Scotty,' are to be sent into space.

Doohan died of Alzheimer's disease and pneumonia at the age of 85 at his Washington home yesterday morning.

Before his death Doohan had discussed with his wife Wende the possibility of sending his ashes into space, like the show's creator Gene Roddenberry.

BBC News reports that Doohan's ashes will be sent on a Falcon 1 rocket launching later this year, which will also carry the ashes of Star Trek writer John Meredyth Lucas, who died in 2002.
