Remembered by most for playing Mr Scott a.k.a Scotty in the original Star Trek series, James Doohan has died aged 85.

This is really sad. I knew this was coming for a long time, after seeing him interviewed for the ITV show "After they were famous" because he looked so frail and old. But it's still a blow. Star Trek was a fantastic series.

James Doohan also featured as the guide in the film for the "NY Skyride" attraction at the Empire State Building.

He and his wife had a baby no more than a few years ago.

Shame, but he had a good innings.

Aw..sad Sad

Absolutely detest the newer incarnations of Star Trek, but I kind of liked the original series.

tis a damn shame, but he had a long life.

he always will be fondly remembered. IIRC quite a few of NASA's engineers became engineers because of his "Mr. Scott".

Oh well, i guess he'll be partying with the great bird (Gene Roddenberry) and De (Deforest Kelley) up in heaven right now!

RIP, jimmy. the word has been given.

I wonder if they'll shoot his ashes into space. Or perhaps take them on the NASA rocket. Has that taken off yet? Wouldn't it be great if they let them do that?
